We all know who Jay Leno is. He's perhaps one of the most popular talk show hosts of all time and is still famous to this day. But rather than talk to other famous celebrities, Jay is now showing off his remarkable car collection and showcasing his passion for cars these days. His YouTube channel, Jay Leno’s Garage, has over 3 million subscribers at the time of writing, and his latest offering is perhaps one of the most extraordinary classic cars in his collection. Say hello to this 1959 British Ferret Armoured Scout Car Mk2.

A Northern Ireland Veteran

And yes, Jay does own this. These cars were used in Northern Ireland, mainly for urban assault and reconnaissance or scouting. Remember, this is not a tank, as it's technically a car, albeit an armored one! This particular example has a 30 caliber main gun, can actually go at 60 mph, and is powered by a Daimler-built Rolls-Royce engine that was used in various Rolls-Royce cars of the time, and it packs in around 130 hp. Weight? Just over 4 tons and Jay jokes that it is the perfect vehicle for LA!

Drives Like A Car

It also drives a lot like a car, Jay notes, which certainly would have made it easier to train people up in them. It has a five-speed gearbox that forwards and reverses, allowing you to go at 60 mph in reverse to escape from hairy situations. How much do one of these cost? Around anywhere between $20,000 to $50,000, and they can even be fitted with smoke grenades and flamethrowers. Jay has fitted cameras to his example, so when he is driving he can see behind him and all around him.

Plenty Of Cam-Shafts

There are a few nicks in Jay’s example, but that is certainly to be expected given that it was probably involved in a few skirmishes! Unsurprisingly, it is all-wheel drive, and there are four shafts as well, and the transfer box is located in the center of the car as well. I’ve looked at a few of Jay’s cars before, but this has to be the wildest. Being a Brit as well, it’s pretty cool to see something like this in Jay’s garage.
