Stellantis is already traversing the road to electrification; the corporation now has 19 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and 15 plug-in hybrid EVs (PHEVs) available in the market. Now, the cross-continental carmaker has unveiled its electrification roadmap for 2022 and 2023. This reveals exciting things ahead, especially for its Jeep and Dodge brands.

As the electrification roadmap shows, Stellantis is set to launch 17 new low emission vehicles (LEVs) in 2022 and 2023. Around 13 of these are BEVs, and three of which will have PHEV counterparts. Around four PHEVs are set for launch in the next two years. Overall, Stellantis will launch 20 new LEVs in 2022 and 2023. Stellantis has already revealed the names of most LEVs.

Of the 17 LEVS, 14 are passenger cars, while three are commercial vehicles. Models that will have both BEV and PHEV versions are the Opel Astra and Astra SW as well as the Peugeot 308 SW. Peugeot will have a 308 EV and a C Crossover PHEV in the next two years.

Interestingly, Stellantis lumped the Maserati GranTurismo and Gran Cabrio BEVs together. Maserati will launch the Grecale BEV next month. Alfa Romeo will commence sales of the Tonale PHEV SUV late this year. Two to-be-announced BEVs will join Citroën’s upcoming C5X PHEV.

American customers, meanwhile, have been waiting for more LEV models from the Jeep and Dodge brands, both of which have already announced intentions to go electric. Already available are PHEV versions of the Jeep Compass, Grand Commander, Renegade and Wrangler as well as the Grand Cherokee.

In Stellantis’ roadmap, a to-be-announced Jeep BEV is on the way, which may take inspiration from the Jeep Wrangler Magneto concept. Unveiled at the 2021 Easter Jeep Safari, the Wrangler Magneto electric concept featured a custom-built axial flux electric motor that delivers around 285 hp of output and 273 lb-ft of peak torque via a six-speed manual transmission.

A New PHEV For Dodge: Hornet Small SUV

Also up for launch in 2022 or 2023 is new PHEV from Dodge. The roadmap doesn’t include the upcoming electric muscle car from Dodge, as this is due for launch sometime in 2024. Currently, Dodge doesn’t have any LEVs on its lineup, which means the 2022-2023 PHEV would be its first green car on the market.

Interestingly, there are speculations that new the Dodge PHEV would be just a rebadged Alfa Romeo Tonale and would wear the “Hornet” moniker.
