Global automaker Stellantis has revealed images of the first ever fully electric Jeep brand SUV during their Dare Forward 2030 Strategic plan presentation. Carlos Tavares, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Stellantis, presented the images of the new vehicle that will function completely by battery-electric technology. This is part of the brand's initiatives to move closer to eventual full electrification of their SUV range of products.

The new Jeep is due for launch in 2023 and will expand Jeep's reach to consumers. Additional information on the new electric Jeep will be forthcoming over the next several months.

The new electric Jeep does not have an official name and Stellantis has released only a few images. Based on the images alone, the new Jeep appears to resemble other Jeeps currently in the brand's lineup, specifically the Compass compact SUV.

While the new Jeep will be a first for the brand as a fully electric offering, Jeep already has some vehicles that are stepping stones towards a fully electric future for the brand; the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) that offers increased fuel economy with a fully electric range and fast charging times.

A fully EV version of the Wrangler is also slated to launch in 2024 as well as other EV SUVs that are slated for off-roading. Given Stellantis' perceived commitment to moving their portfolio towards EVs over the remainder of the decade, it is easy to assume that additional Jeep EV choices are forthcoming for release in the not so distant future.

Stellantis has made a number of bold announcements related to future products, specifically those that will run on electric power. The Chrysler Airflow may serve as an electric SUV for the brand, which currently sells just two models, the 300 premium sedan and Pacifica minivan, which itself offers a plug-in hybrid version.

Dodge is also slated to received performance oriented EV vehicles in addition to EV pickup trucks and commercial vans for Ram. With the popularity of SUVs in mind as well as the emerging technologies that will make EVs increasingly practical, Jeep is taking their seat at the table as a brand that will respond aggressively to emerging trends in the industry.
