For the past few years, more and more people pursue overlanding adventures as they try to relax and getaway from the hustle and bustle of the urban center. A properly equipped off-road beast could be an ideal companion for overlanding trips. Interestingly Jeep has just introduced the new Gladiator Farout concept, which explores how the 4x4 SUV could be a suitable overlanding vehicle. Let’s take a quick look.

Overlanding adventures don’t just mean going off the road. They also entail staying for the night (or a couple of days) far out from civilization. Thus, any overlanding vehicle must be appropriately equipped to do the job. Building on an earlier overlanding concept unveiled at the 2019 Moab Easter Jeep Safari – the Gladiator Wayout – the Gladiator Farout ensures that adventurers remains in comfort even in the wild.

Center to this goal is a contained, customized deployable 16-foot-long by 7.5-foot-tall roof-top tent that accommodates up to four people. This overlanding feature is complemented by interior appliances including a fully functional refrigerator, stove, hanging storage racks, built-in seats and table. The wood-lined cabin features dark smoke blue leather with orange stitching and plaid flannel seat inserts.

The concept leverages the Gladiator’s best-in-class 4x4 layout along with rear tailgate tow hooks, springs, badging as well as FOX performance shocks.

Just like the Gladiator Wayout, the Gladiator Farout is Jeep’s way to gather feedback from its customer base in pursuit of its overlanding aspirations. It won’t be sold though since it’s a concept. However, Jeep has already opened the order books for its 2021 Gladiator EcoDiesel, which sales will commence in the third quarter of 2020.
