Jeep is leading the charge, no pun intended, as a key player of electric vehicles in the U.S and Europe. During "4xe day", Jeep announced that its line-up in the U.S will be 50% EV's by 2030 and become completely electrified by 2035. These targets are similar to the regulations California passed less than two weeks ago.

The Jeep brand is synonymous with adventure, freedom and capability, and now it is pioneering a global movement in automotive electrification. Jeep wants to ensure that its fans around the world will have a planet to play on with zero emission freedom.

The historic American manufacturer revealed three new electric models; the Wagoneer S, Recon and Avenger, claiming "4xe is the new 4x4". Jeep has just sent a message that will reverberate throughout the auto industry. Electric vehicles are currently an option for new car buyers, but soon... EV's will be the only option.

On 4xe day, Christian Meunier, the Chief Executive Officer of Jeep stated: "The Jeep brand is in the midst of a profound transformation of our portfolio". Jeep has already made an impact on the path to an all-electric future with the success of the Wrangler 4xe.

The new off-road SUV is by far the number one selling Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) in America and even in Canada. Jeep has already partnered with Electrify America to place their own charging stations at three significant 'Badge of Honor' trailheads in the U.S.

Off-road enthusiasts can charge their 4xe ahead of the Rubicon Trail in Pollock Pines and in Big Bear, California. There is also a station in Moab National Park. Jeep's goal is to allow early adopters of their off-road 4xe Wrangler the opportunity to explore solely on electric power.

This marketing strategy will allow other Jeep owners to see that the Wrangler is just as capable on battery power; potentially opening the minds of future Jeep buyers to the 4xe brand.

The All-New Jeep Recon Is A Rugged Off-Roader

Jeep prides itself on being an authentic American brand that specializes in rugged, go anywhere off-road vehicles. Now they have revealed something brand-new. An electric vehicle that is designed to compete with its big brother Wrangler, as a vehicle that can conquer any terrain put in front of it.

The Recon will be an all electric, true trail rated capable SUV. Equipped with e-locker technology, removable doors and glass, recovery hooks and underbody protection; the Recon will be the Wrangler's electric alternative. Jeep Recon will also come with a one touch power top, providing a full open air experience, that encapsulates a sense of freedom.

Do not expect the Recon to share its underpinnings with the Wrangler. The Recon appears to be unibody construction with no roll bar apparent in the photos that display the open-top. Jeep is very protective of their Wrangler and have been reluctant to offer an alternative that shares its unique body on frame and solid axle characteristics.

Jeep also revealed an all-new Wagoneer S model, targeting a horsepower of 600 and range of 400 miles. Its 0-60 time will be in the 3.5 second range. Its styling cues are sporty and sleek, with a rear wing that accentuates the sloping roofline. It's also equipped with ambient LED lighting that illuminates the seven slotted grille. The Wagoneer S will be offered in 2024 and plans to be a world leader in the electric luxury SUV market.

The all new Avenger model was also announced for the European market. In Europe, Jeep plans to be fully electric by 2030, a market it is beginning to gain a stronghold on. Jeep is already number one in low emission vehicle sales in Italy. Popularity in Italy began when FIAT merged with Chrysler almost a decade ago.

Not to mention it helps when the most popular soccer team in Italy, Juventus, has the brand printed in the center of their jerseys. The Avenger will begin production in 2023, being the first of the three new models to go on sale. Unfortunately, the Avenger will not be coming to America but expect all the other existing Jeep models to be offered as a 4xe by the end of 2025.

Jeep announced they will offer four all-electric models by the end of 2035, which means they still have one more to reveal. Two of the three models, Wagoneer S and Recon, will be the first full electric SUV's to be offered globally. Jeep evokes a certain passion from its owners that is irreplaceable.

If they can capture that same feeling with the Recon, Jeep will become a major player in the EV world. The Recon will fittingly be the first to enter the untapped all-electric off-road market. The brand has already entered the luxury car segment with its Wagoneer models. Now with the announcement of the Wagoneer S, Jeep is ready to reshape the electric luxury SUV market in the U.S.

With the addition of three new electric SUVs and their recent partnership with Stellantis, Jeep has positioned themselves nicely as a disruptor in the auto industry. Don't be surprised if more automakers make similar announcements in the near future.
