When it comes to off-roaders, Jeep is a company that know a thing or two about them. The iconic American brand is also on quite the run at the moment with plenty of new releases emerging from the off-roading company. We of course have had the new Recon unveiled, the rather large Wagoneer S and the small but perfectly formed Avenger. The company hasn’t stopped there though, as it has unveiled its Jeep Renegade for 2023 that reinvents its midsize machine.

The Renegade is officially a subcompact crossover SUV, and it was first unveiled in 2014 and entered production for the 2015 model year. It is right now the smallest vehicle that Jeep produce, making it appealing as an SUV on a smaller scale. Jeep has decided to reinvent the little SUV for the 2023 model year and add a few more features, and offer plenty of refinement to one of its most popular models. Various colors are also included, there are three models in total for 2023 and a perfectly powerful enough engine to make sure you have all the grunt you need going off-road.

Under the hood is where the heart of the Renegade lies, and Jeep have made sure the 2023 model has an efficient engine. The 2023 edition has a standard 1.3-liter direct injection turbocharged engine under the hood. To go with that engine, the Renegade has a nine-speed automatic transmission that Jeep say helps to increase the fuel efficiency of the SUV as well as reduce its emissions. All in, the engine produces 177 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty for a comparatively small SUV.

There are plenty of other interesting features with the 2023 Renegade. Active grille shutters and engine stop-start technology is also included to further help with fuel efficiency. Jeep Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4x4 systems are onboard, including the Jeep Selec-Terrarin system which gives us up to five drive modes. These include Auto, Snow, Sand and Mud. The Trailhawk model also has the exclusive Rock mode. If you want to tow with the Renegade, then you should be able to two up to 2,000 lbs worth from behind the SUV, although only when properly equipped with the Trailer Tow Package which is available on the Trailhawk model.

Jeep has also had a go at the styling for 2023. While not drastically different compared to 2022, it is still a fresh look for the SUV. Jeep say the SUV features some rugged body forms and some rather aggressive proportions. The company believes that this allows for the best-in class approach and departure angles. For those who like exterior information, there are plenty of colors available for you to choose from with seven exterior options available for the renegade.

These are Alpine White, Black, Colorado Red, Graphite Grey, Slate Blue, Sting-Gray and Detonator Yellow. The last of those is a brand-new color for 2023. Graphite Grey is available only on the Latitude, Altitude, Limited and RED Edition of the Renegade while Sting-Gray is exclusive to the Trailhawk. When it comes to the models, there is the Latitude which has the Altitude Package and RED Edition available for it. Then we have the Limited, which also has the High Altitude Package available and the Trailhawk edition. For the interior, there is a choice of Tresspass Black or Black Leather with Grillz accents as well as Trailhawk Black with Ruby Red Accents.

Like most Jeep SUVS and modern SUVs as a whole, there is plenty of technology in the 2023 Renegade. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are key highlights, as is the HD radio, Bluetooth hands-free calling, voice command and Sirius XM. A Uconnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch touchscreen radio is also provided, one Jeep say is the largest standard touchscreen in its segment. Adaptive cruise control is new for 2023, as is the High Altitude Package which also includes the 19-inch Granite Crystal aluminum wheels, while a full-suite of LED exterior lighting is available on the Limited Elite and Trailhawk Elite Group.

The expanded color palette for 2023 is also a highlight for 2023, and of course the Renegade comes as part of the Jeep Wave customer service program. While Jeep haven’t exactly reinvented the wheel when it comes to the 2023 Renegade, they have done a wonderful job in updating it with some fresh new looks, new colors to choose from and a plethora of technology to ensure we are fully equipped. There is every reason to believe then that the 2023 Renegade will prove quite the hit with Jeep’s customers.
