Jeep Wrangler Gets 4-Cylinder Petrol Function In The UK

UK customers can have a gas-powered 2019 Jeep Wrangler.

Jeep is set to launch a version of the 2019 Wrangler in the UK that runs on petrol and will be able to offer buyers both gas-powered and diesel-powered off-road vehicles.

The diesel version boasts a 2.2-liter engine and 200 horsepower but the petrol model features a 2.0-liter, 272 hp engine producing 296 pound-feet of torque.

The UK lineup's only other 2019 Wrangler option is a 2.2-liter Multijet II turbodiesel model that can produce up to 197 hp and 331 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are strapped with an eight-speed transmission.

According to Motoring Research, the new petrol, Sahara trim version of Jeep's 2019 Wrangler starts off at £44,865, the same price as its diesel-powered counterpart, with prices pretty much the same throughout the range no matter which one you choose to get your hands on.

This newer model is equipped with two on-demand, full-time 4WD systems which employ the new Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case. The Command-Trac case is on the Sahara and Overland trims while the Rubicon boasts the Rock-Trac.

Jeep UK also has the right-hand drive version in 10 exterior colors, namely Black, Firecracker Red, Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Granite Crystal Metallic, Hellayella, Ocean Blue, Punk’n Metallic, Mojito and Sting Gray.

Buyers will also be able to choose between three different top configurations, as well as the two body styles. Tops include the Sky One-Touch powertop, the new Zipperless Premium Sunrider soft top, and the removable Freedom hard top.

Jeep has promised that the 2019 Wrangler will be the most capable version. They will all come with an 8.4-inch multimedia touchscreen displaying satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There's also an eight-speaker Alpine audio system, plus a rear-view camera and parking sensors.

All buyers will also get the 5-3-5 package that includes a five-year vehicle warranty, a three-year servicing programme and five years of roadside assistance.

Meanwhile, the UK is anticipating the arrival of the Jeep Gladiator pickup truck, but more news on that when details become available.
