Sometimes it seems that some gearheads have a bit too much time on their hands. When they're not tuning or modding full-sized vehicles, an arcane diversion like adding some heavy-duty power to a toy is enough to keep them occupied from other things for hours. Such might have been the case for a Cozy Coupe toy car that was fitted with an engine from a Daewoo Matiz SE. Or a Jeep more fitting for a Barbie collection that runs on a 100-horsepower engine. Or there's this entry in the Tyrannosaurus Toy collection, namely a child's truck propelled by a jet engine, which had its own cameo in a video issued Sunday.

Engine Resembles An Old 'Star Trek' Nacelle

It all started when Cleetus McFarland, an online celebrity with nearly three million subscribers, was working with his crew on a drift car fitted with a seven-liter engine. Seeing a break from the action, one of his crew members took a spin on a blue truck that's roughly knee-high to most grown-ups. It comes with a huge gap in the roof for passengers to squirm into. How does it look? Picture a police car from the '60s with a human head on the roof where a beacon would otherwise be located.

In the bed behind, however, is a contraption that resembles an antiquated nacelle sticking up, resembling a propulsion engine you might have seen in an old episode of Star Trek. But yep, it's an engine, alright. But given that it's chugging away, for now, the toy truck is putting around using a tiny internal combustion motor.

This Jet Is Apparently Advance Turbine Design

Switching on the engine, which apparently means business thanks to its Advance Turbine Design on the side, the truck emits a huge puff of smoke and starts to lurch forward, sounding exactly like a jet. Or if we're talking small-scale, maybe more like a Shop-Vac without any nozzles attached. It goes from chugging mode to full throttle. And while impressive, it's hardly Mach 1.

Then it takes to the track nearby, zipping back and forth between the pylons. The driver seems to have no problem controlling the vehicle as it powers on by the crew. As it disappears down the track, one of McFarland's hands gleefully yells, "This is the best thing ever!"

But all good things have to come to an end. A drift car needs some attention again.
