New Jersey born Joe Rogan got his start on NewsRadio and overseeing people eating bugs on Fear Factor. Since then he's become a multimedia powerhouse as a successful comedian, host of the the Joe Rogan Experience podcast with millions of followers, and an MMA commentator. Joe is also a car guy through and through. And not just any cookie cutter off the lot sports car but hand made and custom fabricated one-offs and restomods to Joe's own specifications. One of my favorites, and Jay Leno's too based on the below video, is Joe's 1965 Chevrolet C2 Corvette restomod finished in a beautiful shade of silver and packed with a number of performance goodies and mods making it handle and accelerate like a modern sports car. Let's give it a look.

Even though I'm a diehard Ford and Honda fan, one of my favorite cars is the C2 Corvette Stingray. When Ford and Chevy, for instance, rolled out the remodeled Mustang and Camaro with design cues from the original 60's cars, I expected to see a C7 or C8 with C2-inspired looks. Regrettably, my faith was not rewarded.

Back to the video. It starts with Joe and Jay looking the car over and discussing how the project came to be and Joe's vision for the car. Joe commissioned Pure Vision to handle the build and bring Joe's ideas to life. Steve Strope of Pure Vision goes over the details of the build. It started with a custom chassis and modern LS powertrain fitted with a Magnusson supercharger and custom pulley system with A/C. There's extensive fabrication throughout the car with custom brackets and underhood steel work so everything lined up with the factory cowl induction hood. Rogan also contributed to the interior design and the aft seat nacelles.

After the walkaround and car talk are complete, we are treated to the best part of the video - the drive. It sounds really good when Jay fires it up with noticeable blower whine and good exhaust note as the rpm's climb. The stance of the car is right on and Jay seems genuinely impressed with the fit, finish, and road manners. As Jay and Joe drive through and outside of Los Angeles the discussion turns to years gone by and their love of cars. Jay and Joe are obviously friends and it shows in their back and forth. Check it out and buckle up.
