West Coast Customs has become legendary for producing amazing vehicle modifications since it was founded by Ryan Friedlinghaus back in 1993. They are recognized all around the globe and have featured on MTV’s Pimp My Ride and have even had famous celebrities as their clients. One of those was Justin Bieber, who commissioned West Coast Customs three years ago to create a custom Rolls-Royce based on a design exercise for an electric Rolls-Royce.

Rolls-Royce Wraith Was Chosen As The Baseline

Justin wanted to buy that car exactly as it was, but upon learning that it was just a prototype it left Ryan with a challenge. How do they create a car that looks just like it? So, a Wraith was chosen as a platform to create their own version of the car. It was shortened by 8-inches and widened by 12. The car was scanned with and without body panels, which was handed over to the West Coast guys to work off the scans. The parts are molded and then test fit to iron out any issues and to ensure when the final parts are attached that it's a neat and even finish.

Required Months Of Work For The Rolls-Royce's Body Panels

This took months and months to fit, to create the brackets, and to iron out any measurement issues. Ryan says that once that is done, it heads to the body shop for more months of work including painting. A two-tone combination was chosen, with gloss-silver and matte-gray, to be a stand-out design while retaining some levels of subtleness so it's not too much in your face. This was one of the most challenging builds the company had ever undertaken. Even the interior was enhanced.

Two-Tone Leather Interior Made To Match The Uriel's Exterior

Two-tone leather was created to match the exterior of the car. Various highlights added including the speaker box and custom door panels add some very unique and special touches to the car. It is still a Rolls-Royce, but a one-off Rolls-Royce. And when all is said and done, West Coast Customs created the Rolls-Royce Uriel, dubbed “The light of God.”

It's possibly the most extreme Rolls-Royce design of modern times and a throwback right to the days of coach-built Rolls-Royce in the 1920s and 1930s. The wheel covers give it, as Ryan puts it, a floating appearance, and it’s a statement that West Coast Customs is still going strong despite the effects of the pandemic. And when Justin himself saw it, after three years of work, he could not believe what he was going to be lucky enough to drive it.
