But due to lifestyle changes, he had to relinquish his Chevrolet dream car. But Clinkenbeard did not give up on his dreams of Corvette ownership. He eventually about another red C4 Corvette, and then another one. When it was all said and done, Clinkenbeard amassed a collection of 15 C4 Corvettes, all of them red.

Steve Clinkenbeard bought his first red Chevrolet Corvette in 1985. He sold it in 1992 and acquired a truck because he moved to a house situated on a gravel road.

In 2012, Clinkenbeard once again got the itch to buy a Corvette, so he bought a used 1985 model. He then embarked on a journey to acquire a Corvette from every single model year that General Motors made the fourth-generation version. The only stipulation was that the Vette had to be a coupe (not convertible) and have low miles and a red exterior.

Clinkenbeard keeps his entire C4 collection in a warehouse. The reason why he is selling them is that he is now 75 years old and not physically able to enjoy low-slung sports cars anymore.

Mecum Auctions will be putting all 15 Corvettes under the gavel at their Kansas City auctions on Saturday, December 3. Each car will be available individually, although Clinkenbeard would like to see one buyer purchase the entire stable.
