Luxury is the name of the game for people with deep pockets and huge bank accounts. So, an SUV like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan might satisfy their cravings for luxury, as long as they have at least $325,000 to shell out. But for the creation pictured above you'll need at least $1 million.
This is the Karlmann King, which is perhaps one of the most expensive SUVs in the world. And, according to Motor1, you'll need more than $3 million to get a Karlmann King with all available options.
Let’s get to the details. At the first glance, the Karlmann King looks very similar to the widely known Batmobile especially the one featured in "The Dark Knight" trilogy. Interestingly, Batman’s alter-ego, Bruce Wayne, is a billionaire who could simply purchase a Karlmann King like he was just buying some candies.
Its Italian designer, Luciano D’Ambrosio, revealed to Bacroft Cars that the Karlmann King’s sinister look takes inspiration from stealth aircraft. Indeed, the luxury SUV seems to borrow its diamond design from the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, an American single-seat, twin-engine stealth aircraft that once ruled the skies.
But upon closer inspection, the Karlmann King does have an asymmetrical design – its left side differs from the right . This is quite hard to spot, as the Karlmann King assaults the eye with its sinister appearance. As its designer said, the SUV has to be big and dominant, but not entirely aggressive.
The Karlmann King starts off as a Ford F-550. No changes are made to its powertrain, so it is still motivated by a 6.8-liter V10 engine that delivers 420 hp. Seemingly bogged down by its weight -- pegged at more than 13,000 lbs (5,896 kg) -- the SUV was previously reported to have a top speed of just 87 mph (140 km/h). But in a video released by Bacroft Cars, D’Ambrosio disclosed that it can go as fast 137 mph (220 km/h).
The exterior of the Karlmann King is made from a combination of carbon fiber and steel. If you plan to take on bullets, you can opt for an armored version with a bulletproof body. The SUV is quite massive, having a length of 235.8 inches (5,990 mm), width and height of 97.6 inches (2,480 mm), and a wheelbase of 145.3 inches (3,691 mm).
Inside, the Karlmann King treats you like a royalty with electric tables, a coffee machine, neon sky lighting, and a flat-screen 4K TV. There is even a bar, a laptop and a refrigerator. Furthermore, you'll find a Hi-Fi sound system, a phone projection system and a PlayStation 4. A satellite TV and a satellite phone can also be added.
Needless to say, the Karlmann King isn't your ordinary SUV. But if you’re ready to taste this kind of opulence, make sure you’re also ready to say goodbye to $1 million!
