A forward-looking crossover with a sleek design and plenty of power, the Kia EV6 is arguably Kia’s best attempt at a pure electric car. The car is so well built many have named it a worthy competition to the gold standard of EVs—Tesla. In fact, even price-wise, the Kia can compete with Tesla, as the new EV6 is expected to carry a starting price of about $58,500.

The EV6 is built on what Kia and its parent company Hyundai call its Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). As one can imagine, the EV6 is a big performer that needs only 3.5 seconds to go from rest to 62 mph and can travel 310 miles on a single charge. And while this tells us that Kia can indeed make a fast EV, the following features will show you just how cool the car really is.

8 Augmented Reality Satellite Navigation

Satellite GPS navigation is definitely a step up from old methods of carrying around physical navigation maps. However, Kia EV6 comes with the next level up—augmented reality satellite navigation. The most common positions for GPS are at the center of the dashboard or on a hanging phone, both still require some form of deviation from the road, however with the EV6 augment reality the turn-by-turn navigation is displayed on the windscreen, which eliminates distractions and side glances making the drive safer.

Besides navigation instructions, the feature also displays safety instructions and front vehicle detection.

7 Striking Design

From whatever angle you view it, the EV6 is a beautifully designed car. It has a sporty, slightly futuristic look about it, but it is still beefy and gives the impression of a sturdy serious car.

It has a full-length rear light that forms a downward-facing arc and a set of very cool reverse lights. Side seals and front vents add to the different dimensions of the car that keeps your eye wandering from point to point. All said, the EV6 is one car you won’t get tired of looking at in a hurry.

6 V2L Adapter

Most electric cars have a huge battery that is mostly useful for one thing, drive the car, but what’s the fun in that? The EV comes with the V2L adapter previously seen in its cousin the Hyundai IONIQ 5. The adapter allows the power stored in the massive 77kwh battery to be accessible for operating other electrical appliances.

Applications may include an electric jack, lights for camping, sound equipment for roadside parties, and many more. But most importantly the adapter can be used to charge other EVs.

5 Car Call Function

How many times have you come out of the mall only to be parked in a tight space and it is impossible to get into your car? Well, not anymore, The Kia EV6 comes with a car call option which with the press of a button can automatically pull your car out of or into tight and uncomfortable spaces. And this works in both directions, forward and reverse.

4 High-Definition Surround Camera

The EV6 comes with an HD surround-view camera system. Discreetly placed cameras patch together footage from around the vehicle to produce seamless and very intuitive feedback on the center screen in the car.

The surround camera view allows for different views from different angles, as well as a 360-degree view. The image on the screen can be zoomed in for greater details to avoid any blind spot at all times.

3 Safety And Driver Assistant Technology

cruise control

Driving assistance tech is not new, but it tends to get better every year. An example is the adaptive cruise control in the EV6, while it performs the normal function of cruise control by maintaining speed, it also performs an additional safety function of prioritizing and maintaining a safe distance from the front vehicle.

The adaptive cruise control also steers the vehicle automatically to keep it in the lane, making long journeys relatively stress-free.

2 Electronically-Operated Tailgate

The EV6 in its theme of making life easier has an electrically operated tailgate that opens up to a huge booth space of 520 liters and can be expanded by dropping down the rear seats for larger needs.

In the absence of an internal combustion engine, the EV6 also provides additional space of up to 52 liters in the front which can be used for storing whatever you need it to.

1 Regenerative Braking Capability

Regen E

Most electric cars now come with regenerative braking capacity, which recovers some of the energy that would have been wasted as heat during braking to recharge the battery. Regenerative braking kicks in when the throttle pedal is not pressed and the level of braking is usually set by the manufacturer as a function of desired diving comfort.

The EV6 however, allows the driver to set the desired level of braking, from low, which would require frequent manually pressing the brake pedal, to high where the vehicle can be operated mostly with only the throttle pedal while the regenerative braking takes care of the rest.
