Drag racing videos are always good fun. They can include some pretty special cars going flat out against each other. It is quite interesting to watch relatively new models go head-to-head as well. Sam CarLegion on YouTube does a great job of bringing together some current cars for drag races. In this video, Sam has brought in the 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Performance, which is set to go against the 2022 Kia Stinger GT.

Comparing The Two Contenders

This is set to be a captivating run of races. The Lexus has a 5.0-liter V8, naturally aspirated engine that produces 400 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque. Transmission wise, it has an eight-speed automatic transmission, is rear-wheel drive, and it weighs in at roughly 3,980 lbs. The Stinger GT meanwhile has a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine under the hood, that produces 368 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. For its transmission, there is an eight-speed automatic to go with the car, and it is all-wheel drive. It is heavier than the Lexus, though, weighing in at around the 4,179 lbs mark.

Time To Drag Race

So, these races are set to be quite interesting. Both cars launch well off the line in the first run, but the Stinger GT can get its power down quicker, and it slowly starts to pull away from the Lexus. Sam keeps his foot to the floor, but the Kia is easily able to pull away to a win. The second race is the same story, the Kia launching even better this time to instantly pull a lead on the Lexus. There is nothing Sam can do against the all-wheel drive of the Stinger GT.

Ready For Some Rolling Races

We next get a rolling race between the two cars from 32 mph. When the first race starts, the Lexus is the one to get the power down best, rear-wheel drive giving it all the grip it needed. It slowly edges in front of the Kia to take home the win. The second rolling race is also from 32 mph, but now with manual shifting. The result is even more in favor of the Lexus though, as it does blitz the Stinger GT, the Kia not having a chance. A third race with manual shifting from 62 mph sees the Kia beaten again, meaning the Stinger GT won all the standing start races, but the Lexus won all the rolling races.
