Around a year ago at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Koenigsegg vowed to craft a creation that can break the 300-mph top speed barrier and become the fastest series-production road car. Too bad, Bugatti got there first. Unfazed, Koenigsegg just unveiled the car for the job – the new Jesko Absolut.

Faster Than 300 MPH

According to the Swedish sports car maker, the Jesko Absolut will be the fastest series-production road car ever. Indeed, Koenigsegg claimed that the Jesko can reach top speeds of over 300 mph. But that hasn’t materialized yet and a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ grabbed the first kill with a top speed of 304.77 mph.

Koenigsegg is promising that the Jesko Absolut will be faster than any other fully homologated car. That should mean that it would be faster than the 304.77 mph top speed posted by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. It should also be faster than its track-specialized older sibling, the Jesko.

Same Power As Jesko

In terms of power, the Jesko Absolut is as potent as the Jesko. When using E85 biofuel, their 5.0-liter twin-turbo aluminum V8 engine is able to deliver 1,603 hp of max output (gasoline: 1,281 hp) and 1,106 lb.-ft. of peak torque.

But since Jesko Absolut is tagged to become a high-speed demon, some things are needed to be done. This means several tweaks over the original model.

Formula For Greater Speed

One of Koenigsegg’s solutions was to make the Jesko Absolut more seamless and stealthier than the Jesko. As part of efforts to reduce drag, any drag-causing element on the body of the Jesko Absolut was removed, resulting in an excellent coefficient of drag of just 0.278.

To further reduce drag and downforce, Koenigsegg removed the massive rear wing and replaced them with jet fighter-inspired rear hood fins for greater high-speed stability. The carmaker also removed the front splitter and side winglets, and replaced the front wheel louvers with smoother parts.

In addition, the Jesko Absolut was extended on the rear by 3.35 inches to give it an elongated, more tear-dropped shape. The Jesko Absolut is lighter than the Jesko by 154 lbs.

Target: Top Speed Crown

With all these revisions (and many more), the Jesko Absolut has the right weapons to become the fastest Koenigsegg ever. The company won’t promise any top speed run, but vowed it would grab any opportunity to retake the crown from Bugatti.
