It has been months since KTM teased its new FIA GT racer, the X-BOW GTX. But this isn't one of KTM's race bikes; it's a full carbon fiber race car that further evolves the original X-BOW sports car. Now, the new race car is officially unveiled, thanks to close cooperation with development partner Reiter Engineering.

KTM is going beyond its motorcycle greatness by releasing more details about its newest race car. Sitting on a carbon fiber monocoque weighing 176-lbs (80 kg) that underpins the KTM X-BOW, the X-BOW GTX weighs only 2,310 lbs (1,048 kg). Since its Audi-sourced 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo engine – paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox – makes 530 hp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm, the X-BOW GTX offers a desirable power-to-weight ratio.

These mouth-watering figures are put into great use with the installation of excellent support including a 120-liter FT3 safety tank, traction control and racing ABS, aero profile suspensions, as well as aluminum wheel carriers with quick camber adjustment. Other racing-prepped installations include a Krontec airjack system and Sachs racing dampers.

Created For Safety

Just as important as power in a race car is the driver's safety. In the KTM X-BOW GTX, this is implemented through the carbon fiber monocoque, a full-fledged roll cage, a carbon-Kevlar competition seat, and an endurance braking system. The driver is secured through a homologated six-point racing harness from Schroth while its engine is kept intact in a rear frame made of high-strength steel tubes.
