Revealed to the world exactly 50 years ago, the Lamborghini Countach is considered the father of all modern Lambos in terms of design. Regarded as one of the most iconic supercars, the model is making a comeback with a 50th-anniversary commemorative version – the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4.

Countach Is Reincarnated For Its 50th Anniversary

It was just a few days ago when Lamborghini teased the comeback of the Countach. There were no details back then since all the carmaker has shown is a fully veiled unit with the silhouette of the classic model. But the veil of the new Countach has been taken off at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering and Lamborghini fans are surely going gaga over the Countach reincarnation.

For starters, the Countach LPI 800-4 reinterprets the silhouette of the original but is marked with a cleaner line. It is easily recognizable as a Countach, thanks to the scissor doors, built-in air intakes, distinctive “shark gills,” as well as rear longitudinal position of the V12.

Just like the Countach LP 400 S of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the unveiled model is wrapped in Bianco Siderale with touches of Blu Perlato, complete with a red-and-black leather interior.

Serving as the heart of the Countach LPI 800-4 is a Sian-like hybrid unit that pairs a powerful 6.5-liter V12 engine with a 48V electric motor. The V12 delivers 769 hp (780 CV) while the gearbox-mounted electric motor generates 33 hp (34 CV). Thanks to this hybrid architecture, the V12 can retain its pure behavior while being boosted by the electric motor for a combined 802 hp (814 CV) of max output.

As per Lamborghini, the Countach can sprint from nil to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and achieve a top speed of 221 mph. To ensure this superb performance, the Countach LPI 800-4 comes with a four-wheel-drive system, and rear-wheel steering as well as front and rear shock absorbers that can adapt the suspension behavior to the road conditions and driving mode.

Only 112 Countach Commemorative Examples Available

Further making the Countach revival a very special commemorative model is the fact that its dry weight is at just 3,516 lbs (1,595 kg). With each horsepower pulling only 4.4 lbs of weight, this translates to better acceleration and top speed. This is made possible by using carbon fiber for the integral body chassis and all body panels.

Featuring 3D-printed mobile air intakes as well as a photochromatic glass roof that could change transparency as desired, the Countach LPI 800-4 is limitedly available at 112 examples.
