Lamborghini's 2020 Aventador SVJ could very well be the pinnacle of the iconic company's long history of V12 engines and naturally aspirated performance. With angular looks that represent the culmination of a radical design aesthetic beginning way back with the likes of the Countach and Diablo, the car certainly looks the part of an aggressive, track-focused supercar with little in the way of sacrifice towards the general market trend of swoopy, clean lines.
But as sweet as the $417,000 car might look, it turns out that Lamborghini is still struggling with recalls. The latest issue with the Aventador, apparently, comes in the form of a flawed doorhandle installation process that can lead to the inner door handles not working.
Getting Stuck Inside
Over the past few years, the Aventador has earned some pretty bad headlines surrounding a propensity to catch fire during hard driving and stop-and-go traffic on hot days—an issue that also affected the closely related Veneno. But now, Motor 1 reports that Lamborghini filed a statement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that said, "During the assembly a non properly trained new operator may have not correctly engaged the bowden cable pin inside the internal door handles."
Best Of Luck Getting Out
While the recall covers the Aventador Roadster as well as the Coupe, clearly not being able to open the doors of this supercar is more of a problem for hard-topped variants. The hilarious image of a new worker totally messing up as Lamborghinis team hand-builds an Aventador becomes much more serious in the face of potential emergency situations, if passengers in the car can't get out. Luckily, Lamborghini discovered the problem during in-house testing, not because something went wrong in the real world. Repairs are expected to begin around May 1.
