Many Lamborghini fans were shocked when the Italian supercar manufacturer decided to release the Urus SUV without an awesome V12 engine under the hood. But the truth is that the low-end torque of the twin-turbo V8 better suits the heavy Urus — and the naturally aspirated V10 and V12 engines that have been Lambo's bread and butter for decades are on their way out anyway.

But Lamborghini clearly plans to give the powerplants quite a send-off, including with a swan song from underneath the hood of the track-only Essenza SCV12 unveiled this summer. And now, Lamborghini has released a video detailing all the incredible details that go into making the Essenza, perhaps the most hardcore build ever to leave the company's Squadra Corse motorsport wing.

Essenza Has The Highest-Output V12 Ever Built By Lamborghini

At the heart of the Essenza is the highest-output V12 ever built by Lamborghini, which produces 830 horsepower thanks to advanced features like employing the aerodynamic ram effect as a form of forced induction, as well as exhaust pipes that minimize back pressure. The V12 routes power to the rear wheels only, rather than Lamborghini's more typical all-wheel-drive setup, through a six-speed sequential gearbox that also serves as a structural element in the car's design.

Carbon Fiber On The Inside, Aerodynamics On The Outside

On the interior, the Essenza's extensive use of carbon fiber becomes clearly visible, the miracle material having been built to FIA safety standards, rendering a rollcage unnecessary. The multi-function steering wheel includes controls for the ABS braking system, as well as traction control, the differential pre-load, the transmission clutch system, and the engine management software.

On the exterior, the Essenza's extensive aerodynamic package creates 2,645 pounds of downforce at 155 miles per hour per hour. Part of the appeal of Lamborghini's sales effort for the Essenza is the inclusion of a track-day package so that owners can enjoy their aggressive hypercar on the world's premier circuits — all with Lamborghini mechanics and coaches on hand.
