The Lamborghini Urus is a fine off-roader. The fact it comes from Lamborghini too is something quite incredible. The Urus is a monster, with its 4.0-liter V8 engine and 650 hp making it a monster that can rival certain supercars in the power stakes. It has the mad and insane styling that we have come accustomed to with Lamborghini’s supercars, and the fact that this is a Lamborghini that can go off-road is simply remarkable. But it might soon have an unlikely rival.

A rival not in the SUV stakes, but in the off-roading stakes. For a little while now, Lamborghini has been teasing us with the Huracan Sterrato. This is a car that many were hoping became reality, an off-roading V10 supercar that would be a huge amount of fun. Its “Beyond The Concrete” trailers have showcased what we can expect from the new supercar, as Lamborghini has put it through its paces and tested it to the max. And we think it may well become an even better off-roader than the Urus itself.

What We Can Currently Expect From The Sterrato

First of all, let's look at what we can expect from the upcoming Sterrato. The bodywork from what we first saw in the 2019 concept was in fact based upon the Huracan EVO model, and it looks like Lamborghini have refined that shape for the real version. There are exterior changes, with the ride-height raised by two inches, and the wheel-track widened by around an inch. This is all with the aim of enhancing the overall off-road experience and drivability of the car. Balloon like tires with 20-inch wheels are also quite prominent on the Sterrato we have seen in Lamborghini’s teasers.

Under the hood there is a lot to be very excited about. The Huracan EVO has a 5.2-liter V10 engine in it with 640 hp, only 10 less than what the current Urus is packing. So that is not a bad level of power output at all. Of course any new Huracan Sterrato would have the latest and greatest version of that V10 engine in it, but that would still pack a big punch for the car. The LDVI system from the EVO was in that 2019 model and would probably be in the newest version too, tuned and ready for some off-roading fun.

Why The Sterrato Is Such An Exciting Prospect

There are plenty of reasons as to why this is such an exciting prospect. First of all, it is an off-road Lamborghini. There is a lot to say for the sheer excitement that alone brings to the table. And not an off-road SUV, but a supercar that goes off-road. This is not the domain of the supercar, with this reserved for rally cars, SUVs and big rugged machines. So a car with the styling and power of a Lamborghini supercar, on the dirt? That is very, very exciting.

The Sterrato will of course be smaller in size over the Urus, and that alone brings advantages. Most notably, the handling. The Urus doesn’t exactly handle like a rally car or a supercar. The Sterrato would certainly handle differently, but it would perhaps give us as close a feel to a Lamborghini rally car as we could possibly get. That is pretty exciting in itself. The step up from the Urus V8 to the Huracan V10 also means a bit more excitement and noise from the back of the car too, with everyone at heart being a fan of the Lamborghini V10 engine.

A Lot Of Anticipation For The Sterrato

There is a lot of anticipation behind the Sterrato. Mostly because Lamborghini hasn’t really given us to go on. Its teaser videos and images have given us a good look at the car, but with no performance details and the car wrapped in a camouflage livery. So what exactly we will get from the Italian car company is actually a bit of a mystery. But the fact we are getting a supercar, from Lamborghini, for off-roading, is very cool. And for that reason alone it is cooler than the Urus. The Urus was bread for this. The Huracan was never meant to go off-road.

One Of Lamborghini’s Most Intriguing Releases

Lamborghini has certainly made things interesting in recent times. The Urus itself was quite the reveal, as was the Sian and the all-new Countach that we saw last year. So to follow that up with the most extreme version of the Huracan we have yet seen is quite something. We don’t know how many are coming, and what kind of production run it will have. But we get ready to say goodbye to the Huracan, this is one of the best ways in which we can say farewell to the car. We can’t wait to see how it turns out.
