Lamborghini is now known for its performance-solid sports cars, like the outgoing Aventador. There is another thing solid for Lamborghini – its record commercial and financial results for the fiscal year 2021.

According to the carmaker, they concluded 2021 with the best results so far in terms of sales, turnover, and profitability. Lamborghini posted a record turnover of $2.1 billion, which represents a 19% jump over 2020. It more than doubled its operating margin (compared to 2018) to around 20.2%, which is now in line with the luxury industry.

For the fiscal year, Lamborghini posted an operating income of around $437 million, which is around 49% better than the results in 2020. At the time, the carmaker posted an operating income of $293 million. But as part of an ambitious strategic plan to invest up to $2 billion over the next five years, the carmaker is seeking to hike its profitability to between 22% and 25% in the next few years.

High Sales Mean Historic Financial Results

Its history-making results come as Lamborghini delivered a total of 8,405 cars around the world in 2021, a 13% increase on the deliveries in 2020. Lamborghini posted strong results in three macro-regions. America grew by around 14% and accounted for 34% of global volumes. The Asia Pacific region also grew by around 14%, making up 27% of global deliveries.

The EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region surged 12%, accounting for 39% of worldwide volumes.

In terms of sales by country, the United States has the most deliveries at 2,472 units, for an increase of 11%. Lamborghini delivered 935 cars in China in 2021 for a 55% jump. Deliveries grew in Germany by 16% to 706 units, and in the United Kingdom by 9% to 564 cars. The carmaker delivered 4% more cars in Italy in 2021.

Urus Is Keeping Lamborghini Up With Strong Sales

Model-wise, the Urus accounted for a huge chunk of sales in 2021, with 5,021 deliveries. The carmaker delivered 2,586 units of the V10-powered Huracán, thanks to the Huracán STO. Lamborghini also delivered 798 Aventador V12 models around the world in 2021.

Lamborghini disclosed it will unveil two innovations each for the Huracán and Urus, and then proceed to build the hybrid model that would replace the Aventador in 2023.
