In a year that's been marked by a series of unprecedented events worldwide, from the pandemic to a global economic fallout, milestones can help distract the masses. From Italy comes the Thursday announcement from Lamborghini that its Sant’Agata Bolognese factory officially hit the 10,000 mark in manufacturing the Aventador Roadster.

Consistent Rollout

Slated for delivery to Thailand and indelibly stamped with the number 10,000 on its chassis, this particular roadster comes with a grey exterior and red trim with a red and black interior. Since its introduction in 2012, the Aventador roadster has been a consistent rollout despite Lamborghini shifting its priorities concerning various models of late.

According to Automotive News Europe, the company produced only 649 Aventadors in 2019, with more effort going towards making nearly 2,700 models of the Urus, a vehicle that's been ranked among the top 10 best Lamborghinis ever built. That year, Lamborghini also produced more than 1,200 Huracans, boasting a V-12 engine and 640 horsepower.

Speed And Safety

But the Aventador is hardly a slouch in the performance department. The latest roadster also has a V-12 engine with 700 horsepower that can churn out 8,250 rpm. Besides reaching a top speed of 217 miles an hour, it can also accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

It's also light, thanks to a body made entirely of carbon fiber constructed as a single layer, combining the roof, floor, and the rest of the cockpit into one unit. The result is a more rigid shell and increased driver and passenger safety.

Still Stylish

But to luxury car fans, the two-seater Aventador is also about style, with its sleek exterior sporting a paint job that takes up to three weeks to finish for each vehicle. On top of that, you can't beat having a roadster with a roof that's easy to remove and a pair of passenger doors that swing upward.

Anyone looking to nab an Aventador is best advised to prepare to shell out plenty. Motor1 stats reveal you could pay as little as $467,617; a fully-loaded version is considerably higher at $554,717.
