As a result of increasingly stringent emission laws, the production V10 powertrain will at some point soon cease to exist as we know it. With most supercar automakers already making the switch to V8-hybrid power plants, Lamborghini has taken it upon itself to throw a proper going away party for the Huracán.

However, upon announcing its "final variant" back in July 2022, Lamborghini revealed an offroad-inspired Huracán complete with higher ground clearance, plastic cladding, and a bevy of rally lights.

With Safari builds becoming one of the more popular subsections of car culture in recent years, it was no surprise that there was an amount of buzz created by the aptly named "Sterrato" edition. Loosely translating to "dirt road" in Italian, Lamborghini seems to be directly injecting off-roading into the Sterrato's DNA.

Today, Lamborghini and Safari-build fans alike witnessed the third piece of the Sterrato puzzle with a new teaser featuring a sub-two-minute video, and a handful of new snapshots of the upcoming Huracán. Let's take a look and dissect Lamborghini's ambiguous approach to the Sterrato's unveiling.

The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato: A Proper Off-Road Supercar

With the original Sterrato concept dating back to 2019, Lamborghini fans figured the off-road armor-clad-Huracán was just a figment of their imagination like the many supercar 'safari' concepts before it. However, in the summer of 2022, Lamborghini delivered one of the most unexpected teasers, confirming the Sterrato as the final variant of the aging Huracán through their marketing campaign "Beyond the Concrete."Over four months later and with another couple of teasers, Lamborghini once again delivers an outdoor-inspired video focusing on the off-road capability of the Sterrato — this time while the driver chases down a descending parachutist.RELATED: Here’s Why The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato Will Be A Much Cooler Off-Roader Than The Urus

While actual technical details are still closely kept to Lamborghini's vest, we do know the Sterrato will sit two inches higher than its Huracán siblings, and will more than likely feature the same powertrain as the special edition Lamborghini Huracan EVO version. If it does feature the EVO underneath the plastic cladding and skid plates, then we can estimate the Sterrato to boast 631 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Yet fans are still left without a major piece of information: will the Sterrato feature all-wheel-drive?Because for the Sterrato to perform admirably on loose gravel, we'd have to imagine Lamborghini would fit the supercar with four-wheel capability, otherwise ripping through dirt roads might prove to be a slippery affair — however, we can't imagine it would be any less fun.
