Most people know that Lamborghini builds some of the world's best cars. The brand generally comes in right below Ferrari in terms of Italian performance and popularity. What people may not know about Lambo's long and storied history, is that the iconic Italian brand has also built farm equipment like tractors—though to be fair, the recent unveiling of a 4,000-horsepower speedboat was a bit of a surprise. Now, Lamborghini has partnered with the Italian bicycle company Cervelo to produce a limited edition of the R5 road bike that's dedicated to the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ that set a Nürburgring lap record back in 2018.

Of course, both Lamborghini and Cervelo have become intimately acquainted with constructing performance machines largely out of carbon fiber. Though, in this case, rather than squeezing the potential out of a V12 engine, the goal is maximizing the output of one person-power. The bike's livery matches the camouflage worn by the Aventador that ran a lap of the Nordschleife in only 6:44.97. This R5, based on a model that's currently proving its mettle in the Tour de France for team Sunweb, was "created to tackle the steepest uphill and downhill tracks of the Italian Dolomite Alps."

Components Are King

Given the Italian heritage behind the two brands, it only makes sense that high-end bicycle component firm Campagnolo supplied the groupset to bring this carbon frame up to the next level. (Keep in mind that Campagnolo also built wheels for Lamborghini's original supercar, the Miura.) The bike is kitted with Campy's Super Record EPS Disc gruppo, top-of-the-line Bora One wheels shod in Vittoria Corsa Pro rubber, and also features a Deda Elementi stem and a Fizik Aliante saddle. Only 63 examples will ever be constructed and retail starts at $18,000.
