Watch the new Lamborghini Urus take on the Tesla Model X P100D in drag race action.

We’ve seen the Lamborghini Urus take on the Tesla Model X before, with the checkered flag alternating between the SUVs. We don’t expect this race to go any different, but that’s now what science is all about! Science is about doing the same test, over and over again, and making sure that the result is the same every time. And if there’s one result that goes the wrong way you spend billions of dollars and countless years researching just how that one test didn’t go the way you expected it.

Or you write it off as a blip and move on to the next big project. It depends if you’ve got tenure or not.

The Urus comes with a big 4.0-L twin-turbo V8 and produces 641 hp and 627 lb-ft. Power goes through an 8-speed automatic to all wheels all the time, with the whole car weighing just shy of 5,000 lbs. Zero to sixty is done in just 3.6 seconds with a top speed better than some sports cars at 190 mph.

On the other side of the line, the Model X sits mutely without a single cylinder firing, but with twin electric motors producing a combined 588 hp and 920 lb-ft of torque. Zero to sixty is done in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed limited to 155 mph, lest the battery melt.

The Model X might have better acceleration, but it also weighs 800 lbs more than the Urus. So there’s that.

Once again, we have DragTimes to thank for pitting an Urus and a Model X against one another in a series of four drag races. As you’ll see in the video, each race’s winner is generally determined by whoever has the better start off the line as the SUVs are quite evenly matched.

However, the Urus consistently produced a slight edge when it came to its quarter-mile time. It seems that the Model X just can’t quite keep up, although its instant response still makes it a mean racer.
