As the calendar slowly and methodically transforms from spring into summer, dreams of warm days and balmy nights, beach vacations and top-down cruising start to color our virus-scarred psyche. So leave it to Lamborghini, that purveyor of electrifying speed machines to help adorn the alfresco fantasies of the well-heeled with the ultimate stimulation machine, an open-top version of its extra-visceral RWD Huracan EVO.

Like a Hurricane

Via Lamborghini

The Raging Bull manufacturer from a little village in Northern Italy just released its new thrill-a-minute Huracán Evo RWD Spyder to drooling audiences around the world via Augmented Reality, whereupon you can view the car inside and out and even project it sitting in your driveway or garage. Lamborghini says it's the first time a car manufacturer has released a vehicle using Apple's AR Quick Look technology. That’s about as close as 99.9% of us will come to experiencing the latest EVO Spyder, but we are not complaining.

The EVO Spyder is essentially an open-top version of the RWD EVO that debuted earlier this year, and packs the same naturally aspirated 5.9L V-10 nestled amidship and detuned to make 602 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque compared to the all-wheel-drive model's 631 horsepower and 442 lb-ft. Sitting mere inches behind your ears and without a roof to dilute the sound, the shrieking V-10 will serenade you like Andrea Bocelli after 5 espressos.

Sideways Fun

Via Lamborghini

The euphoria from piloting a true and unadulterated driver’s car and one with no roof makes this a truly memorable driving experience. Lamborghini claims a zero-to-62-mph time of 3.5 seconds in the RWD Evo Spyder and a top speed of 201 mph, despite the Spyder weighing about 300 lbs more than the coupe. You can opt for the safer and quicker AWD version, but not only will it cost you $58k more, its fun quotient, although still stratospheric, fails to measure up.

Opening Now

In dark times like these, companies like Lamborghini help keep our collective automotive hopes and dreams alive. Merely beholding the svelte lines and the menacing posture of this latest bull is enough to make one tear off one’s face mask and yell “AVANTI!!!”
