Kyle Larson came away with his eighth win of the season this afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway in the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500. Larson took the win from William Byron, who finished second, with Christopher Bell completing the podium in P3. Bubba Wallace sustained heavy damage and retired early, following his performance at Talladega earlier this month.

Larson led the field at the start of the race. Chase Elliott, Corey LaJoie, Chase Brisco, Garrett Smithley, Alex Bowman, Cody Ware, David Starr, and Justin Haley started at the rear.

Denny Hamlin started P2 but fell down the order, and was eventually passed by William Byron for P5. After pit stops on Lap 31, Byron inherited the lead ahead of Martin Truex Jr. Bubba Wallace incited a yellow flag after spinning into multiple cars on the back straight. Ryan Newman, Aric Almirola, Kyle Busch, Bubba Wallace, Michael McDowell, Ryan Preece, Anthony Alfredo, Cole Custer, Ross Chastain, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Alex Bowman, Cody Ware, Josh Bilicki, Joey Gase, Justin Haley, all sustained damage from the incident.

Byron kept the lead after the race continued, Truex preserving P2 and mounting a challenge for the lead. Byron defended his position and held the lead on Lap 41. After pit stops for fuel and tires, Kyle Busch took the win for Stage 1.

Anthony Alfredo Catches Fire; Larson Leads the Field

Kyle Busch had the lead into Stage 2, but lost it to Larson on Lap 117. Debris brought out another yellow flag on Lap 165. Larson kept the lead after pit stops and won Stage 2 from Byron. Stage 3 started with Larson leading from Byron on Lap 217. Briscoe lost a tire from P8 on Lap 275 which yellow-flagged the race yet again. The leaders kept their positions after the tire changes and into the restart on Lap 281. Logano retired from engine failure on Lap 299, yellow-flagging the race.

The leaders kept their positions after pit stops when the race restarted on Lap 305. Anthony Alfredo spun and hit the wall while trying to avoid contact with Kyle Busch, who spun Chris Buescher. Alfredo's car caught fire and red-flagged the race. Alfredo climbed out without injury.

The race restarted on Lap 310, with Larson in the lead from Byron as Hamlin took P4 from Brad Keselowski. Hamlin made contact with Blaney and lost a tire, spinning out from P7 on Lap 312. The race restarted on Lap 319 but was yellow-flagged yet again from Truex making contact with Daniel Suarez while battling for P9. Truex duly retired after sustaining heavy damage from hitting the wall.

The race went to green with eight laps to go, when yet another yellow flag came out for contact between Hamlin and Buescher. Buescher then retired from the race. The race restarted with 2 laps to go. Larson held his lead and took the win, with Byron in P2 and Bell swiping P3 from Keselowski.
