The industry event is an excellent venue for automakers to display their goods in novel ways. Lexus is aiming to do just that with the six distinctive builds for SEMA 2022. From track-focused vehicles to SUVs equipped for off-roading, the new Lexus models cover the full spectrum.

Since its release in 2013, the Lexus IS has been in its third generation. The IS had a significant redesign in 2020, which is a very long time. Lexus showcased a prototype version of the IS sedan, one of its best-selling models, at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. It has multiple modifications and more than 600 horsepower to demonstrate the IS’s capability.

The DSPORT IS 600+ project build is first in line for the freshly produced Lexus SEMA guide. This time, a model called the IS 350 F SPORT served as the foundation. This car is obviously not a regular one from a perspective. Originally an IS 350 F Sport, the vehicle grew into the “most aggressive performance-focused project car”. Those are the automaker’s words, but the 600 horsepower this automobile produces puts them in an entirely different light. It is evidence of the skill of the experts who built the vehicle with racing performance in their hearts.

The Lexus IS 600+ from DSPORT increases the output of the standard IS 350 F Sport to nearly 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts), claiming the model’s title. In order to replace the stock 2GR-FKS 3.5 liters naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine, Lexus engineers traveled to Toyota. The V35A V6 engine from the company, fueled by two billet compressor wheel turbochargers, is what drives the new Lexus. There is no hybrid or electric powertrain used this time.

The Lexus LS 500 engine is exploited to build this one, with its CT28 turbos having higher boost outputs. In order to reduce intake charge temperature and boost power, the V35A-FTS, which has a port and direct fuel injection (D-4ST), is crammed into the IS body. In its usual configuration, the twin-turbocharged engine generates 416 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. The increased power output was significantly greater than the factory engine, at more than 600 horsepower. Lexus accomplished this by boosting the CT28 turbos’ boost levels and running on E85 fuel.

However, the engine is only a small part of what makes this design unique. A Samsonas full-sequential six-speed gearbox aids in getting the power to the ground. Due to the integration of the Emtron engine management system, the driver can adjust gears using shifters on the steering wheel.

The Lexus DSport IS 600+ Weight Reduction Project

The frame has a four-point roll cage because they designed it for track performance. The occupants are not only safe because of this, but they also made the chassis stiffer for better handling. A coilover system with height adjustment from KW Suspension is also included in this vehicle. In order to keep things under control, it also receives the RC F Carbon Ceramic brake kit. They composed the bonnet and trunk of carbon fiber to minimize the weight of the vehicle. The Tilton manufactured the carbon fiber clutch, and GTHAUS developed the stainless steel exhaust system.

As part of its sporting aspirations, the cabin also receives Sparco seats and harnesses, with the rear seats removed to reduce weight. Lexus safeguarded the driver and securely connected the vehicle thanks to a four-point roll cage. The driver will use the MoTeC Motorsports color display to manage the majority of the car’s settings.

Although it is a premium sports sedan, it may nevertheless undergo severe modifications, which is what Lexus did in cooperation with SEMA 2022. You can tell by all the aerodynamic features that this monster is track-oriented.

The IS 600+ received a special paint job using Lexus’ OEM paint colors by Axalta on the exterior. It has a strong two-tone appearance with a white body. The trunk and hood are now made of carbon fiber versions from Seibon. A slew of contrasting stripes and trim matches the black carbon fiber hood and trunk on the exterior. There’s also a massive wing on the rear that completes the design.

The IS 600+ complements all the racing components and the more than 600 horses it boasts under the hood. The Artisan Spirits widebody package, combined with the 19-inch Volk wheels, gives the Lexus IS 600+ an extremely menacing posture. It has tires that are offset by Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, measuring 275/30 in the front and 305/30 in the back.

Two sports prototypes, including the pedigree DSPORT IS 600+, were unveiled by Lexus at the SEMA Show this year. In addition, the Electrified Sport model is also available for viewing, which outlines the company's EV ambitions.
