Lexus, the luxury branch of the Toyota automobile maker, is well known for putting luxury touches on all of their vehicles. Operating since 1989, Lexus has become synonymous with high-class cars. They have continued to keep up to date, integrating more and better upgrades with each new iteration of every model they make.

Building on this reputation, Lexus developed the ES as a series of mid-size cars as a flagship of their brand. The first generation was developed and introduced to market in the same year that Lexus itself was founded, and they have continued to offer the model continuously since.
