The 2021 Lexus LX 570 is the latest model unveiled as part of Lexus' LX line, which its parent company Toyota has made the flagship line of the brand, and it is known for its high reliability rating. Several models preceding the LX 570 have been shown as equally reliable, largely thanks to low annual repair costs, low repair frequency, and low severity of repair. The LX 570 has also been shown to endure complicated off-roading, even though it wasn't quite designed for it.

While it has some drawbacks, like limited cargo space, poor fuel economy, and problematic infotainment systems, drivers will put up with those flaws in order to feel safe and secure with good reliability. Read on to find out how the 2021 Lexus LX 570's reputation for solid reliability precedes it.

Repairs Rarely Needed

It's not often on the Lexus LX 570 that something needs to be fixed or replaced, adding to its reliable reputation. Several buyers have reported that their Lexus has never needed repair, or perhaps it needed repairs once or twice that wasn't severe by any means. Those issues were minor at best.

The annual repair cost is only $832, which, for a luxury full-size car, is fairly minor. Further, the 2021 Lexus LX 570 was reportedly given 3.5 out of 5 stars for a reliability rating. Most Lexus owners say that, with regards to repair frequency, they only need to hit up a repair shop once every 14 months on average.

The average rating is factored by the number of repairs per year, so the Lexus LX 570 only gets a 0.8 per year for frequency. Reports also note that the chance of the Lexus' issue being severe or highly problematic is only 9%. Severe repairs are classified as those with triple the cost (or more) of the average annual repair cost.

History Of Reliability

It helps the Lexus LX 570 that several of its predecessors were equally or closely reliable as well, which contributed to its reputation preceding it. Other Lexus LX models that preceded the LX 570 also had high-reliability ratings from J.D. Power. That said, however, while reliability is rated high, fuel economy is not.

With a 5.7-liter V8 engine, the Lexus LX 570 compares to the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, all of which only achieve a mere 15 MPG. However, buyers tend to give Lexus the benefit of the doubt because of their reputation for reliability compared to other cars.

Another benefit of the Lexus that makes it more reliable is that it has been subject to incredibly few recalls. Lexus dealerships also tend to offer buyers a solid warranty that includes free maintenance visits and a free loaner car because they are highly confident in the Lexus LX 570's affordability and reliability.

Tested In North Korea

Even the leader of North Korea decided to test the reliability of the Lexus LX 570. Kim-Jung-Un took the the LX 57o off-roading as part of a vehicle road test, and it passed with flying colors, as the LX 570 was not intentionally designed with off-roading in mind. Further, given how Lexus has yet to place a dealership in North Korea, the vehicle that Kim-Jung-Un tested likely was imported from China.

The LX 570, being the flagship model for the Lexus lineup, offers multiple seating rows and has been given numerous updates in rapid succession since 2018. The Lexus LX 570 has a 6,000 pound curb weight and had a sport version introduced just last year. With 8.9 inches of ground clearance and a starting MSRP of $90,000, Lexus has targeted an affluent customer base by design. To add to the affluency, the Lexus LX 570's China MSRP is double that of the American MSRP.

Highest In Its Class

The Lexus LX 570's reliability rating was so high that it earned the highest rating in its class after many tests. The Lexus LX even got a 4.5/5-star reliability rating from US News, which is both the highest mark in the Lexus' class, and even higher than RepairPal's aforementioned 3.5/5-star reliability rating. Lexus also offers a four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty for the LX 570, and a powertrain warranty that covers six years and 70,000 miles is also available.

While it has been previously noted that the Lexus LX 570 has a high reliability rating and solid off-roading capabilities, it also receives bad marks for difficult steering, complicated infotainment, limited cargo capacity, and the previously-mentioned poor fuel economy. However, while other similar cars, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, are in a similar situation, drivers have been shown to prefer the Lexus instead, simply because of the dependable reliability rating.
