The yuletide season is here, so we can all expect a number of vehicle concepts to emerge that are designed to impress target markets or even commissioned production one-offs. For instance, Bentley Mulliner created a Flying Spur 1-of-1 special edition called "Reindeer Eight". Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota, is taking the reindeer-pulling activity to another level.
A Lexus Sleigh Concept For Traditions
According to traditions, an old man with a white beard delivers toys to nice kids. He does it while riding a sleigh pulled by eight reindeers. A tale passed through times to ensure kids don't get naughty for a whole year, it's a fantasy that Lexus saw worth delving into. Unlike Bentley which transformed the sleigh into a luxurious Flying Spur V8, Lexus chose to stick to traditions with a modern twist.
Lexus has several offerings that could be transformed into the famous sleigh. There's the Lexus LC500 convertible for an open air sleigh experience, as well as the premium carmaker's LX large SUV, which offers ample space for toys. But since the old man in a red suit is special, Lexus came up with something more fitting: a modern sleigh called the Lexus HX Sleigh Concept.
A Red Crossover In Sleigh Form
Featuring an aerodynamic body, the Lexus HX Sleigh Concept features a crossover-like body (hence the X) but in sleigh form. It's wrapped in a four-coat infrared paint finish, ensuring that it's easily recognizable. Propulsion is achieved through two rocket engines mounted on both sides. Lexus didn't say how much power this engine has, but apparently reindeers are replaced by mechanical horses.
As a Lexus, the HX Sleigh Concept is both simply luxurious and stylish. As a a gift-bearer, it features endless cargo space that allows billions of toys to be loaded. Lexus is silent about the technology that made this possible, but apparently, it can only be used on a certain day in a year. To access the trunk, just place a foot on the Kick Sensor.
Laden With High-Tech Features
For a comfortable delivery, the Lexus HX Sleigh Concept features Climate Concierge with Neck Warmer. To ensure toys reach the nice kids on time, it has a touch screen display with Embedded Air Traffic Control. If the driver gets bored, a custom Mark Levinson Surround Sound Audio System is there to keep him entertained.
