New for the 2019 model year, Chevy’s attractive and chiseled Blazer has brought a renewed enthusiasm and excitement to the nameplate. The top-tier Blazer currently sports a punchy 3.6L V6 that cranks out 308hp and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. These are respectable numbers for sure, but aren’t going to set the SUV world on fire. Fans of the new Blazer looking for additional motivation under the hood of their sleek softroader can now rejoice. A boost in power courtesy of renowned tuner Lingenfelter is in the works, according to Muscle Car and Trucks. Let’s take a look:

3 Pre-empting Chevy’s Own SS?

Via The Drive

While the rumor mill was rife with tales of an upcoming V8-powered Blazer SS, Chevrolet has indicated that they intend to use a turbo V6, currently used in the Cadillac CT6 delivering 404 hp. Lingenfleter says that  demand for a modified and more powerful tuned Blazer was so great that they decided to breathe their magic onto it, and we now know that it will outperform the upcoming SS.

2 Supercharged Motivation

Lingenfleter has been installing supercharger kits in the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon, two vehicles that use the same 3.6L V6 that’s in the Blazer. So it was just a matter of tailoring the supercharger to fit onto the transversely-mounted engine in the Blazer, and the requisite modifications required on a car that will be cranking 450hp. There’s even talk of a pulley upgrade that can push that figure to 500hp.

1 Looks and Brawn

It seems that when Lingenfelter’s modified Blazer hits the streets, it can finally cash the checks that its svelte looks have been promising for almost a year. What’s more, it will be a serious competitor for the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT in terms of power, and bests it in aesthetics and utility. All for a projected $7k additional cost over the price of an AWD Blazer. We can’t wait to get our hands on one!
