The Toyota GR Yaris is a dream for many, simply because it's a hot hatch born from he world of rallying. It won't be surprising if the Yaris has become the object of modification projects. Indeed, United Kingdom-based Litchfield Motors is offering to increase the power of the GR Yaris for just £640 ($887).

To see the difference in performance between a Litchfield GR Yaris and a stock unit, Mat Watson of Carwow staged a couple of drag and rolling contests between these two hot hatches.

Litchfield GR Yaris Leaves The Stock Hatch Behind

Mat loves the GR Yaris, and he's willing to engage two hatches into a straight-line performance contest. The first to arrive at the quarter mile finish wins, and the Litchfield GR Yaris proved it's better than the stock version in this regard.

The first drag race ended with the Litchfield GR Yaris crossing the finish line just a few feet ahead of the stock hatch. In the second drag race, both cars took off the same time, but the Litchfield GR Yaris completed the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds, while the stock GR Yaris was slower at 13.3 seconds.

In both the 30-mph and 50-mph rolling races, the Litchfield GR Yaris still finished the contests on the lead. The results were as expected, simply because the Litchfield GR Yaris is more powerful.

The secret to the superior run of the Litchfield GR Yaris was the performance firm's custom tuning box. This tuning box features a custom calibration that offers extra boost at the top of the rev range. It comes with a simple plug and play design for quick installation and removal (around 10 minutes).

Further boosting the core of the Litchfield GR Yaris is an ITG performance air filter with high-quality foam design found on motorsport filters from WRC and F1 racers. This washable foam filter allows the 1.6-liter engine of the GR Yaris to breathe easier.

The combination of the custom tuning box and the air filter upgrade boosts the GR Yaris' power from 257 hp (261 PS) of max output to 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of peak torque to 301 hp (305 PS) and 287 lb-ft (390 Nm). The result is a better GR Yaris, but Mat warns that this upgrade voids the warranty.
