A daughter company of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Jeep has come up with many interesting cars over the years. Some leading cars from Jeep are the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Compass, and so on. They build these cars to go off-roading with ease. But with these cars said to be good off-roaders, they are still pretty good while going on the highways.

Jeep has some amazing special edition vehicles, the likes of which include variants like the Rubicon, Sahara, Trailhawk, and so on. This article brings the Golden Eagle variant under the spotlight.

Jeep introduced the Golden Eagle edition in the year 1977. They based it on the Jeep Wrangler CJ-5 and later the CJ-7, and came with a 304 cubic inch 5 liters V8 producing 180 HP  and 245 lb-ft of torque. So basically, under the hood, the Golden Eagle edition is the standard Jeep Wrangler. But the major differences start with the vehicle's style. This variant comes in a 2 door version with a rear tailgate. It has a curb weight of 3879 lbs and a towing capacity of 2000 lbs.

4 Exterior Styling

The exterior styling is the key attraction of the vehicle. To begin with, the company has put in a large Golden Eagle logo on the hood of the vehicle. The logo is basically the silhouette of an eagle diving in golden outlines. The words “Golden Eagle” are also written on the side of the hood for providing a rarity and appeal to the eyes. They carry this golden theme out throughout the car. The body-colored front grills come with gold detailing around the edge, this detailing adds a certain volume to the otherwise pale-looking hood.

Also, the headlights get a similar golden outlining. This also enhances the look of the vehicle. The golden detailing does not end there. They also color tow hooks in the front golden to go with the theme of the car. It carries the same styling out around the car as well with the 8-inch spoke steel rims that have a bronze/golden coloring. A chromed or ionized black color front fenders are a standard in this variant.

In the rear, the tail lamps get a black-colored guard. Along with a full-sized spare wheel at the back, the Wrangler maintains its off-roader persona throughout. These few traits running throughout the Golden Eagle make it stand out and a crowd-pleaser, no wonder such special edition Jeep's are so highly valued.

3 Exterior Functional Additions

The golden eagle variant is not just a car that has been given good looks but is also given some practical and functional aspects to it. For example, its front and rear bumpers constructed completely out of metal. These bumpers also have removable and interchangeable parts to suit the driver’s comfort. The bumper also comes with a mounting point for a winch which can be easily mounted using a few screws and bolts. While it does not attach a winch to the bumper, the mounting point can be covered with a plastic piece that helps in covering up the gap provided for the winch mount.

The end parts of the bumper are removable. This provides the driver with an increased approach angle during off-road conditions. It attaches the sides of the vehicle with heavy-duty rock rails made of metal. This helps the vehicle slide over the mountain and rocky terrains without damaging the bodywork of the vehicle and also serving the purpose of a side step if needed. The Golden Eagle variant also comes with a removable soft-top for enjoying the summer breeze or rolling on the soft-top. Removal of the soft top is also not a laborious process.

2 Interior Styling

Jeep carries the golden theme of the vehicle in the interior. Starting with the stitching in the seats and the dashboard all the way through the steering wheel. Cloth seats are standard on the jeep as with the open-top arrangement, the leather seats can heat and will be very uncomfortable for the driver. They also line the steering wheel with cloth for the same purpose. The seats also have the golden eagle logo featured on them. Also, the Jeep logos on the interior are given the golden theme to them.

The Jeep comes with a removable door, and even while removing the doors, the driver does not have to go through a lot of wiring while the removal. The rear passenger legroom isn't much when compared to other vehicles of the same category, but it can easily seat a normal-sized adult. The interior is also littered with the jeep logo in gold for keeping the vibe of the vehicle alive.

The drive of the vehicle is smooth off-road as the car comes fitted with off-road tires as standard, so they are not very comfortable on the highways. It sets suspensions up to be soft for the off-roading experience, which also provides a smooth ride on the tarmac. Wrangler's off-roading capabilities are enhanced in this special edition. The seats are not power-operated, so the driver has to manually set their driving position.

The driver's seat is set pretty high for a better view ahead for the off-roading experience, but it also helps on city roads. The Jeep Wrangler Golden Eagle Edition gives a mileage of 18.6 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.
