In an effort to keep it's best-selling vehicle of all-time, the Sentra, fresh, sexy (their words, not mine), and cutting edge, Nissan unveiled the reinvented 2020 Nissan Sentra at the 2019 LA Auto Show. Nissan claims that the new Sentra offers a higher level of refinement, updated styling, sportier handling, and high tech features joining the previously redesigned members of their sedan lineup - the Versa, Altima, and Maxima.

Since its introduction in 1982, Nissan has sold 6 million Sentras from base models to SE-Rs, LEs to Ss with engines starting at 1.5 liters before ballooning up to 2.5 liters. It's proven to be an excellent all-around performer both in basic transportation duties and as a nifty little pocket rocket. To keep it fresh, and competitive with other redesigned offerings such as the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Mazda 3, and others, Nissan developed the 8th generation Sentra with a new platform, tech, looks, driving dynamics, and stance.

The new Sentra benefits from a redesigned platform that sits both 2 inches lower and wider than the outgoing model. It's informed by design language appearing on Nissan's other stablemates with a V-motion grille, sleek LED lights, and floating roofline.

In the interior, Nissan is trying to up their game considerably with cleaner ergonomics and the use of high quality materials. She offers quilted, leather-trimmed heated Zero-gravity seats, heated side view mirrors, Intelligent All-Around View Monitor, and an 8-inch multi-touch center display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

Under the hood is a new fuel-efficient 2.0 liter in-line 4-cylinder engine pumping out 149 hp and 146 lb.-ft. of torque. This represents an increase of 20% and 16% respectively over the previous model's 1.8 liter motor. Driving dynamics have been greatly improved through a thoroughly revamped independent rear suspension and a new electric power steering system.

Driver assistance features include the Nissan Safety Shield 360 with an advanced sensor package, Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Automatic Braking, and High Beam Assist. And for driver safety the Sentra includes no fewer than 10 airbags, Rear Door Alert, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, and Intelligent Driver Awareness.
