In a video just released by upstart American pickup truck company Lordstown Motors, its Endurance dominates a Ford F-150 in a game of traction testing tug of war. Not wildly dissimilar from a stunt Tesla showed off with its Cybertruck, Lordstown makes it clear that this test was all about traction as opposed to power or any other metric. That's good but there are still some questions we have about the test and what it means for the future of the Endurance.

Many Factors Play A Roll In These Types Of Tests

There's no doubt that having individual motors on each corner can aid in traction and it would at face value seem as though Lordstown shows strong evidence of that here. The Endurance seems like one of the dark horses in the race to be the best electric truck on the market and, maybe even one day, seize the title from the most popular pickup: the F-150.

Nevertheless, it's interesting to note a few things that might have helped its chances here. First and foremost, notice how both the F-150 EcoBoost and the Endurance seem to be using their stock wheels and tires. Those play a gigantic role in traction and, while the F-150 can be optioned with all sorts of tires, the ones here look nowhere near as beefy and rugged as the Goodyear DuraTracs we see on the Endurance.

We've reached out to Lordstown Motors for clarification and will update this post if we hear back. Seconod, keep in mind that the tow rope isn't hooked up to the center of the F-150. While it might not provide a major advantage, it does cause the F-150 to have to fight to move laterally as well, weakening its position even further. The Endurance is sure to be a cool truck and possibly a great one. Only time will tell if this test ends up meaning much, though.
