The Chevrolet Corvette C8 has been quite well received. In fact, it has been very well received. Many have commented on how it is a feat of engineering magnificence, with its mid-engine layout. But despite that, there has of course, been the odd piece of negative news regarding the car. The latest thought concerns the version of the car that is set for Europe. To comply with European emissions laws, the C8 is set to lose around 30 hp.

A post on the Mid-Engine Corvette Forum spoke of this news, the user, Ace, stating that they had been informed by multiple dealers that the European Corvette will lose this power. The C8 is set to lose up to 30 hp thanks to the requirement to install a Gasoline Particulate Filter on it to comply with EU emissions laws. This will see the power output come down from 468 hp from the original 495 hp and the 0-60 time will be affected too, going from 3.0 seconds to 3.5 seconds.

Naturally, this news was not that well-received on the forums. The user who posted the news said that this is a huge letdown as European C8 prices are pretty high compared to those in the US market. Another user in the replies section said that they were also disappointing that the news had not been reported elsewhere. Despite this though, there has been some recent good news regarding the Corvette.

A post on the Corvette Blogger website states that a new low-profile spoiler option is coming for the 2022 Corvette Stingray. This was confirmed at the National Corvette Museum Bash Event with a virtual presentation from the Corvette team. This spoiler can be ordered with or without the Z51 package. This though won’t be much consolation to those customers in Europe however, who will no doubt be disheartened that the C8 in their territories is set to lose a significant amount of power, although we are sure many will understand given the emissions regulations.
