When it comes to pickup truck content and information, The Fast Lane Truck is one of the best resources. The guys from the popular YouTube channel head to Boise, Idaho in order to purchase the most inexpensive four-wheel drive, half-ton pickup truck they could find in the United States that was available at a dealership.

The truck is a stark contrast to the Hummer EV pickup they recently purchased, which was very expensive. Check out the video to see the options this inexpensive Ram 1500 truck offers as well as their final out the door price.

The Lowest Cost 4x4 Half-Ton Pickup In America

The search lasted about a month to find the lowest cost 4x4 half ton truck in the United States before stumbling upon the white 2022 Ram 1500 Classic with a regular two-door cab and 6'4" bed. The Classic version of the Ram 1500 is a continuation of the previous generation Ram pickup which Ram has continued to build as a lower-cost option for the newer generation of the truck.

As a result, a similarly equipped pickup truck from Chevrolet or Ford would cost several thousand dollars more. Nissan and Toyota both build half-ton pickups as well but do not offer them in regular cab configurations any longer.

There are several available engines for the Ram truck lineup and this one has the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft torque. The tried and true engine is in just about everything Stellantis makes ranging from the Dodge Charger to the Chrysler Pacifica and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

They envision this truck will prove to be a reliable vehicle that will serve as an excellent work truck, which is their plan for it.

This configuration of the truck comes with a $37,095 base price. It would be less without four-wheel drive but given that they live in Colorado, four-wheel drive was a must. This truck isn't as base-level as you can go since it has a few added options. These include the Chrome Appearance Package, trailer tow group, brake control, carpeting, and SiriusXM radio.

The truck also has automatic headlights and cruise control, features they didn't discover until giving it a thorough look over.

With the options added, the final price for this truck is $41,725. They end up purchasing it for less than $38,000 as the dealer knocked some cost off the MSRP and they qualified for some incentives from Stellantis.

Comparatively, this truck costs about the same as a fully loaded Ford Maverick or a moderately optioned midsize truck like a GMC Canyon or Nissan Frontier. Given the larger size and better towing capacity this Ram offers, they feel the price was pretty fair.

They plan to add a bedliner and use it as a work truck and will also provide a report on the MPG that the truck achieves on their 12-hour road trip back to Colorado.
