There is a lot to love about the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance. With an amazing 1,050 horsepower and neck-snapping acceleration, the electric vehicle (EV) from Lucid boasts some pretty impressive specifications that have been generating a lot of hype since they were revealed back in April of 2022.

As the most powerful EV currently being offered in North America, it might be easy to imagine that Lucid would not feel the need to go much further in design or features on the Grand Touring (GT) Performance version of their beloved Air. Although it would likely sell well without them, the car has some amazing features.

It is hard to pick favorites here, but our top contenders for the best ones include the comfortable interior, continuously updating infotainment and advanced sound systems, and DreamDrive Pro driver assistance and safety set up.

Let’s take a closer look at some of our favorite features of the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance!

An Incredibly Comfortable Interior With Updating Infotainment Systems

The spacious interior of the Air is upstaged only by the materials used within it. The premium materials are on par with what one would expect to see in other luxury sedans made by the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, or Bentley Motors. The interior is themed with one of four options that each were designed to evoke a sense of place from Lucid's design home in California, according to the company.

The locations and corresponding themes include a gold and orange hued “Tahoe” interior that is meant to draw from the colors of sunsets behind the lake and mountains there. Featuring Nappa Full-Grain and Premium Natural Grain Leather, the interior can be had in either “Lucid Black” and “Saddle” and pairs with a Carbon Oak trim.

The “Santa Cruz” interior plays on the contrast of light and dark with Nappa leather available in “Lucid Black” and “Ceramic” with North American walnut trim and Alacantara inserts. “Mojave” is inspired by the desert and includes Nappa leather in “Lucid Black” and “Graphite” with Carbon Oak trim. Finally, the “Mohave PurLuxe,” which is not yet available, comes with a leather alternative in “Lucid Black” and “Graphite” with Carbon Oak trim and Alacantara inserts.

In addition to the customizable and interestingly themed interior colors, the dash panels in the car are textile-covered and there are storage areas located in clever areas such as beneath the lower infotainment screen that provide plentiful storage for smaller items. The seats in the GT Performance are both heated and ventilated and provide massage functions. Paired with the panoramic glass roof, the overall feel of the interior is luxurious.

The infotainment system within the car is also high-end and includes a curved 34-inch display with sharp onscreen graphics. Enhancements to the system are made regularly through over-the-air software updates and include customizable themes.

Although there are some moments where the infotainment system is a bit slow, it is only improving with each update. Paired with the custom-designed immersive audio Surreal Sound system, the infotainment system comes alive. Twenty-one speakers and Dolby Atmos technology make for a whole new level of audio in the car and creates an immersive experience that is incredibly nuanced and can be adjusted for individual preferences.

The Super Safe DreamDrive Pro System In The Lucid Air GT Performance

The proprietary DreamDrive Pro System equipped in the Air GT Performance is extensive and includes a 32-sensor suite of gear including fourteen cameras, five radar, twelve ultrasonic units, and a lidar (the first use of a lidar in an automobile in the United States). The sensors are integrated subtly, making them nearly invisible. The driver assistance features are also capable of updating over time with over-the-air updates to the software as well, keeping it safer and more relevant for longer. The hardware is supported by Lucid’s proprietary in-car high-speed data network, the Ethernet Ring, which allows communication between vehicle systems.

The software for the DreamDrive runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform, making it capable of more advanced features and better efficiency through the partnership. Although it is integrated into the advanced driving assistance systems suite of every Lucid Air on the road, it is not equipped as standard on all makes and models and is only offered as an optional upgrade on some at the cost of around $9000.

With the complex system of technologies included in the DreamDrive system, the car is able to offer a ton of safety features such as blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, front and rear cross traffic protection, traffic sign recognition, and distracted/drowsy driver alerts.

Additionally, the car will be capable of semi-autonomous driving and other driver convenience features like surround-view monitoring, traffic jam assist, headlight assist, and full-speed highway assist. For ease of parking, the car is equipped with autonomous parking assistance and maneuver comfort braking. The system can identify parallel and perpendicular parking spots and automatically select gears, steer, and drive to position the car safely into the space (and then will automatically turn the front wheels towards or away from the curb when on a hill as an additional safety measure against rolling).

Overall, the Lucid is a beautiful and technology-forward EV with a lot to love and a dream to drive. With a ton of amazing features, Lucid made it difficult to pick just a few that we love. However, we would have to say that the comfortable and unique interior, continuously updating infotainment with advanced sound system, and DreamDrive Pro system are our favorite features of the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance edition.
