Every year we get new automotive concepts and car companies but Lucid stands apart from the rest of the pack because they're not just trying to gain a foothold, they're trying to walk into the battle and take down the biggest companies in the field with their new luxury sedan, the Air. The Air is a truly revolutionary vehicle that's going to force companies like Tesla, Porsche, and Mercedes to continue raising the bar.

Lucid Air Priced Between Porsche Taycan And Tesla Model S

The $169,000 price tag for the launch and top of the line model, the Air Dream Edition, is slotted in between the top of the line Tesla Model S, and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The base model will be available in 2022 for just $80,000. What's incredible is just what you get for those prices.

Lucid Air Has More Horsepower Than Tesla Model S And Porsche Taycan

With their first version starting at just below the price of a well-appointed, well-known powerhouse offering such as the Taycan Turbo S, Lucid knows they have to deliver in every way possible. As automotive enthusiasts, perhaps one of the most important statistics to consider would be outright power and the Air has both its biggest competitors beaten there with an astonishing 1,080 horsepower. That's roughly double the Tesla and 250+ over the Porsche. Add to that menacing number the incredible 517-mile range and all of a sudden, things are getting serious.

Lucid Air Has A Luxurious Interior Plus Level 3 Autonomy

While the power and mileage sound amazing, Lucid didn't stop at just some flashy statistics. The interior is seriously well appointed. Compared to Tesla and Porsche, Lucid seems far more like they're similar to the Stuttgart stallions as opposed to Californian carnivores. They're particularly proud of their connection to California though and went so far as to include easter eggs in the form of bears throughout the interior.

Ultimately, that post-luxury interior features a giant dash screen panel, as well as a portrait-oriented center control stack. The driver interface features the Lucid Airs Advanced Driver Assistance System or ADAS. They claim that it's capable of Level 3 autonomous assistance which is thanks to some 32 sensors covering vision, radar, and ultrasonics. If they can demonstrate it in real-world behavior it would topple Tesla's stranglehold as the best "autopilot" feature on the roads today.

Secure A Lucid Air Dream Edition For $7,500

We've seen companies like Faraday Future come and go without a single public offering. Lucid has gone the opposite route by investing years and countless dollars developing an exceptional product that has real-world capability and will soon be available to you and me. Considering all it's offering, we're confident that many will happily take the $7,500 plunge to secure their Lucid Air Dream Edition and many more will submit the $1,000 deposit for one of the lower-tiered models.

While the Air is actually slower to 60 mph than Model S, these buyers won't care about .02 seconds. They care about the most advanced product available and the Air Dream Edition is that car. Nothing else on the market currently can touch its incredible combination of luxury, power, performance, and range.
