"Cheap" is always a relative term, but when it comes to professional and "ProAm" racing, the race prepared BMW M2 CS definitely qualifies coming in at $105,000. For that six figure layout customers get the S55 engine from the regular M2 but with software options to fit the needs of whatever series the car is entered in. BMW is hoping for big growth in the customer racing market. The near race ready Porsche 911 GT3 has been a staple of BMW's German competition for years.

3 Balance of Power Ready

Eventually the customer race car will be able to adjust to whatever balance of power needs might be required with an engine management system that can be tuned anywhere from 280hp to 365hp with a flash drive. For the time being engine management is handled by the M4 GT4's software. BMW also looks to offer 450hp to expand the series where the M3 CS might be competitive.

2 Race Prepared

The BMW M2 CS comes equipped with most of what is needed to make it to the track with the hopes of being the first to see the checkered flag. It includes a seven speed dual clutch gearbox, a mechanical limited slip differential and dynamic stability control for newcomers. It also features FIA-certified racing harnesses and race control goodies like a data logger and steering wheel with buttons and switches.

1 Series Ready

The sports coupe racer is already qualified for two series out of the box. In Europe customers can enter the VLN Endurance Championship that includes the 24 Hours of Nurburgring. For customers stateside the car qualifies for the USAC TC America series as part of the World Challenge. Teams can get their first examples in mid-2020 and be ready to race in the 2021 season.
