Magnus Walker has made a name for himself as a Porsche influencer on social media with a unique "Urban Outlaw" style. But he's begun branching out, recently purchasing a pair of E-Type Jaguars to add to his collection. Walker even got behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLS for a quick drive, leaving Porsche fans no doubt feeling slightly betrayed. His newest video content comes in partnership with Hagerty, in the form of a new YouTube series called "The Next Big Thing" where Walker checks out cars that could be set to blow up (in popularity) in the near future. And now, the latest episode features two classic-yet-controversial Italian legends, the Lamborghini Espada and the Ferrari 308 GT4.

The Test Of Time For Some Strange Designs

Both the Espada and the 308 GT4 stand out from the epic lineups that established Lamborghini and Ferrari as design icons in the 1960s and 70s—perhaps because both were designed by Bertone with angular lines that might have seemed futuristic at the time.

The Espada, in particular, with its large rear canopy, seems almost like a station wagon, or at least a shooting brake, rather than a sports car from the company that introduced the Miura to the world. It still sports a V12, albeit mounted up front rather than in a mid-engined layout. The 308 GT4, in this case on loan from owner Ben Pratt, looks much smaller, with odd proportions due to the fact that it is able to seat four (more or less) and still employ a mid-engined layout.

The Espada definitely comes across as more of a grand tourer, and owner Aaron Robinson admits his car is "big and heavy" and "makes 80 miles an hour feel like 120." In town, the car seems a bit "caged" but also attracts a ton of glances from pedestrians and drivers in the background.

A Bit More Racecar

The Ferrari's race-bred heritage shines through a bit more and Walker loves the sound of its Dino V8 and the feel of the shifter, as well as the narrow Momo steering wheel seen above. Walker himself appreciates both cars as they allow him to step back in time, though he'd choose the Espada if forced to choose between the two simply because it's so quirky and nostalgic.
