If you were a billionaire, what car would you drive? It's a difficult question. Whatever preference we may have as car enthusiasts, a small fortune will most certainly allow us to make an impressive collection. A true gear head can never resist a good ride, right?

Just take a look at the Jeff Bezos picks. Amazon's CEO has quite a few jewels stacked up. The same applies to Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jay Leno, John Cena, and so many others. They all have incredible collections to show off.

But not all business tycoons and famous people like to brag about their car choices. Mark Zuckerberg, an American media magnate and internet entrepreneur, is known for having a liking for simplicity. Most people get quite surprised by his car collection, which includes (be aware now!) the Honda Fit, the Acura TSX, the Volkswagen Golf MK6 GTI, and the Infiniti G Sedan.

Well, yes, that's about it (for now) — a rather simple and very unexciting collection, we dare to say. But much to everybody's excitement, the rumor has it that Zuckerberg bought one stunning sports car back in 2014 — the Pagani Huayra.

It seems Zuckerberg couldn't resist having at least one extravagant model in the garage, and it's no other than the exquisite Italian supercar. Let's take a look at this car in more detail and see why Zuckerberg went for it and not so many other sports models available out there.

A Brief History Of Mark Zuckerberg's Pagani Huayra

The history of Pagani isn't a very long one, unlike that of Ford, Pontiac, Ferrari, and many other prominent brands. However, that makes it no less rich and impressive. Thirty years and counting, Pagani has been making gorgeous and awesomely powerful sports cars. The first project to leave its production lines was the famous Zonda C12, a sports car that thrilled the public with its specs, detailed design, and uniqueness. Only a few units were produced in total!

But Horacio Pagani, the founder of the company, didn't wait too long to start a new project. He began thinking about a new car in 2003, fearing the Zonda wouldn't stand the test of time, nor excel when pitted with in competition with other sports cars. Thus, the gull-winged Huayra was born in 2011, and it very much resembled its predecessor.

We don't have to tell you how much attention Pagani Huayra attracted instantly. After its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, all eyes were on this extravagant sports car. To make things even more interesting, Horacio Pagani named his special product after the Incan god of wind, Huayra-tata. Considering the car specs, it was given a suitable name indeed.

The Pagani Huayra came equipped with a 6-liter twin-turbo M158 V12 engine, coming from no other than the Mercedes-AMG. The results were 730 horsepower and 740 lb-ft of torque, along with a top speed of 235 mph. The Huayra can also accelerate from rest to 60 mph in an impressive 3.2 seconds.

But what made this car even more appealing was the lightweight bodywork made of carbon fiber and titanium, or in one name, carbotanium. The blend of these materials allows Pagani cars to resist extreme temperatures and strain, an ability that is no doubt necessary in such a high-performing car.

Thanks to the positive public reception, the Pagani Huayra saw a couple of impressive redesigns over the years, just like its predecessor Zonda. After the base model, the Huayra BC arrived to spark interest with an even lighter and more aerodynamic-focused exterior. Well, it also produced an output of 740 horsepower, but who's counting? The "BC" was curled from the initial of the name Benny Caiola, one of Horacio Pagani's first and most loyal customers.

Of course, Pagani couldn't skip making the roadster either. As you probably expected, the roofless version got even lighter, and naturally, more powerful. The Huayra Roadster cranks about 753 horsepower and has an improved carbotanium bodywork. The result? A mad roadster, we'll tell you that much.

You probably expect the story to end here, but it didn't. Horacio Pagani continued to introduce more gorgeous and frightening Huayra models. The types we would beg to have (or at least drive). The BC Roadster followed the previous model (as you might have guessed, it was definitely more powerful), then the Tricolore and the R. There were also quite a few limited editions, and we couldn't possibly fit them all in here.

So, for now, we hope you got your answer to the question of why Huayra is such a special car in Zuckerberg's collection. As evident from the photos, the Huayra is a gorgeous example of a sports car, but it's also a madly powerful one.
