The Maserati MC20 has a lot riding on it. It's the company’s first bespoke supercar since the MC12 in 2004, which actually possessed a Ferrari Enzo-derived engine. The MC20 is also set to launch a revival for the brand and take the company in a new direction. And it appears that—despite still being in the prototype stage—the MC20 is already turning heads for its looks. The car has won the award for being the “Most beautiful supercar of the year 2021” by the 36th edition of the Festival Automobile International.

Maserati claims that the car has incredibly pure lines and class, which they say helps to highlight sheer sporting brilliance. Maserati's Head of Design Klaus Busse said, "We are honored to receive this coveted accolade, which recognizes the work of an entire team who have made a wholehearted commitment to this unique project, creating a car that opens a new chapter in Maserati’s history." The company is proud to say that this car is 100% Italian, with not one piece made outside of the country.

Like most events this year, the awards ceremony was forced to be an online-only affair thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. The MC20 made its debut appearance globally in September 2020, and it was received with wildly positive fanfare. Maserati themselves claim that the MC20 is a mix of elegance, sporting prowess, and personality, adding also that it is a genuine masterpiece of style. It is all about a new era for the company, which has been through some rocky times recently.

This is to be one of the most powerful cars in Maserati’s history. It is powered by a 630 hp Nettuno V6 engine that aims to deliver a 60 mph speed in just 2.9 seconds. It is to be fitted with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, while also featuring a self-locking mechanical limited-slip differential. And to aid you when driving on the road or race track, the car has five driving modes: GT, Wet, Sport, Corsa, and ESC Off, which shuts every control function down to give a very raw driving experience.
