Here at HotCars, we do love a good car rendering. This can be either a render of an upcoming model, pure works of fantasy, or tweaks to cars that are already out to improve them further. We love all kinds of renders. And there are some fantastic rendering artists out there as well. This one comes from Salvatoreandrea Piccirillo on Behance, and he has created an absolutely stunning car. This is the Maserati Neptune, a sleek electric racer from one of Italy’s most famous car companies.

An Aggressive And Stylish Concept

We have looked at some incredible renderings before, and this must be one of the most thorough pieces of work we have so far come across. There are slides on Piccirillo’s work that detail the design philosophy behind the Neptune, and he wanted to take design cues from Maserati race cars of the past such as the low, slender shape, and incorporate them into this new design. Don’t forget, Maserati is of course enshrined in the history of motor racing with the likes of Juan-Manuel Fangio driving their cars in Formula 1.

Gran Turismo Tribute

The Neptune is powered by a Formula E, which is perhaps one of the most powerful electric powertrains in the wheel. The batteries will be located just behind the front-wheels and there is a splitter at the front and a large diffuser at the rear of the car. The car is also aimed at giving the very best driving feel as well, and offering a new way to drive with a more comfortable driving position for racing drivers. The car certainly gives off major Gran Turismo vibes, and indeed it is aimed as a sort of Gran Turismo tribute.

Sculpted To Perfection

Commenting on the pure aesthetics of the car, it is one aggressively looking machine. The splitter and front architecture, for example, is very much pointy and sculpted in a dynamic fashion, but the top of the car and the overall body retains an element of sleekness and elegance, akin to many real-life Maseratis. The wheels are perhaps the most aggressive element, and the car has a large gap under the cockpit to maximize the airflow through it towards the rear diffuser.
