In stock form, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is a seriously impressive sports car. However, when tuners get their hands on the AMG GT, things can get a lot crazier.

With that in mind, a recent video by the YouTube channel Gumbal shows the mighty tuning power of a 1,126-HP Mercedes-AMG GT S destroy an impressive lineup of sports cars at an airfield drag race in Europe including a Porsche 992-gen 911 Turbo S a BMW M5 F90, and an Audi R8 V10.

The stock version of the Mercedes-AMG GT S comes with 522 HP. However, the tech wizards over at JB Dyno ramped up the power of the Merc up to 1,126 HP, more than doubling its raw capabilities.

Even more impressive is that the Swiss-tuned Mercedes GT S can really put the power down. It may look slow at the start with a speed of 28.5 MPH but its top speed of around 195 MPH is no joke. These numbers will be quite consistent during its runs against the other sports cars.

The first drag race the Mercedes-AMG GT S takes part in is more of a warmup than anything else as the organizers pit it against a sporty VW Golf. There's no race time here but the Merc blitzes past the hot hatch as it struggles to accelerate, bellowing grey smoke from its twin exhaust.

The next runner-up is the extremely respectable Audi R8 V10 Performance. The Mercedes rival has a strong start, being able to put the power down nicely over the whole length of the strip. However, it loses out in the end, near the finish line, with a top speed of 161.5 MPH. Very impressive performance, seeing that the Audi only has 620 HP.

The other big European rival of the Merc comes in the form of the BMW M5 F90 RR with a respectable stable of 800 hp under the hood. The M5 struggles to put the power down on the asphalt despite its high HP. It does speed up near the finish with a top speed of 185 MPH.

As the two powerhouses of German engineering line up at the start, they quickly get a move on with similar starts. The Merc always seems a tad sluggish off the line but soon puts the power down to gain impressive speeds.

The Porsche also eats up the asphalt in front of it. However, it does so in a more dynamic way. The cars are neck and neck for most of the race but the AMG Merc eventually pulls ahead by a car length or two with the Porsche reaching a top speed of 182 MPH.
