A 1991 Mercedes-Benz 190 has been made into the centerpiece of the lead European ad agency for Mercedes-Benz, Antoni. The company made the vehicle into a cozy four-person meeting room, and it now sits in the third floor of the agency's Berlin office. They took the time to turn the former automobile into a retro meeting space that comes complete with a working tape deck and a bar built into the trunk.

The Drive

First built as the Mercedes-Benz 190SL, a two-door luxury roadster, the car became a staple of the 1980s auto world with its boxy styling and clean lines. Unfortunately, the German automaker discontinued their run of 190s in 1993. The once popular car has now been relegated to the past, but thankfully Antoni has turned it into a swank office feature.

Complete with the original houndstooth interior, a working tape deck and the previously mentioned trunk bar, the car was picked up used for €850 (about $940). The agency worked with various architect friends to transform the vehicle into a four-person meeting room. Overhead is the Mercedes three-pointed star logo in neon. As for seating, the front seats have been turned around to face the rear, and the rear bench has been replaced by two bucket seats.

1 How It Got There

Antoni co-founder and managing director Sven Doerrenbaecher explained to The Drive the challenges faced to get the car into the space. In order to get the car to the third floor of the building, required a heavy-duty transporter to tip it sideways to fit through a window. The window had to be uninstalled and the car barely scraped through with only a few centimeters on each side left open on each side of its frame as it was pushed through.
