New Mid-Engined Corvette Renderings Offer Possible 360 View

A Corvette enthusiast has created a 3D model of the upcoming mid-engine C8 'Vette.

They’re also blurry from being taken during high-speed tests around various test tracks. Well, someone did. His name is Charles Cronley, and he’s a 3D modeler that just so happens to hang out on the Mid-Engine Corvette Forum and have enough free time to make beautiful models for us to gawk at on his YouTube page.

What we see is quite possibly the most accurate depiction of the C8 Corvette outside of spy photos. Cronley does an excellent job of getting the C8’s lines and front fascia designs right and takes special care to ensure the rear section looks as close to the spy photos as possible. Note the vented rear windshield that combines the visibility of glass with vented mesh for engine cooling.

Rumors near the end of 2018 pointed at the C8 arriving with an updated version of the LT1 V8 producing around 520 hp and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will be named the Manta Ray in keeping with the C7 Stingray.

After that, a Grand Tour trim will be released that will prioritize luxury and comfort over performance, but it will still get plenty of both. Active noise cancellation and adaptive dampers will make it the smoothest Corvette ride ever, while a Cadillac-sourced 4.2-L twin-turbo V8 will also be quieted to ensure a serene and pure cabin sound.

The Grand Sport will arrive last sporting a 5.5-L twin-turbo V8. We have no power numbers for that engine, but it’s said to compete with the best supercars from Europe.

Unfortunately, it may be a while before we see the C8 Corvette in the flesh. A recently reported electrical problem has delayed production by 6 months, making it unlikely to debut until the end of the year.
