Polaris has become famous for building sweet off-road side-by-sides under the RZR moniker, plus the tarmac-shredding Slingshot. But the company's MRZR looks like a rough-and-tumble military-spec mule that's ready to hump troops around the roughest terrain possible. The cart is essentially a RZR in camouflage with a bit more grunt to haul the grunts around.

The Polaris RZR for sale to civilians is an off-road vehicle only, though certain bold individuals probably drive their babies on the tarmac here and there. And when it comes to blasting around dirt trails, the RZR is about as confident as a Utility Task Vehicle (alternately, a Utility Terrain Vehicle but still a UTV) can get. The "M" in front of the name specifies military upgrades that make the MRZR even more potent than those available to the civilian population.

The Polaris website specs the MRZR with a wide range of potential configurations. Engine options include four different 875cc gasoline and turbodiesel powerplants. The turbodiesel "models feature longer range, more auxiliary power and improved ergonomics." Both engine options are available in two- and four-seater layouts.

The range-topper for the MRZR is the D4, which features a longer wheelbase and seating for four to go along with its turbodiesel engine. The D4 can be configured with up to two litters, can haul up to a 1,500-pound payload, and still manages 80% better range than its gasoline counterpart. A CVT gearbox sends the diesel engine's 88 horsepower to all four wheels. Suspension components include Fox shocks and a front dual A-arm setup with trailing arms at the rear that allow for up to 12.5 inches of travel.
