Mini Cooper has introduced us to a whole new world of refined cars for a long time, and it has a very long and rich history in terms of changes to its ownership and design. The brand’s re-launch in 2003 moved us towards a new mini era of mini car architecture and a fresh, modern MINI logo.

A while ago, MINI announced that a new Mini Countryman was in the works, and now it’s finally here. And sure enough, it’s beyond what we'd expected. For 2022, MINI has refreshed two of its most beloved crossovers, namely, the bold Mini cooper hardtop and the elegant Countryman, both of which come with convertible variants.

Labeled the “Boardwalk Edition”, the 2022 Countryman went into production in March 2021 and had sashayed its way into the US by April.

The 2022 Countryman Boardwalk Edition comes with a sleek exterior, dazzling interior, and an MSRP that won’t leave a dent in your wallet. According to the BMW Group, the Countryman will only be available in limited numbers, so now may be the best time to get a hold of one.

Here’s what you should know about the 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman.

While there are minor updates expected for the 2022 Mini John Cooper Works, the Mini Countryman Boardwalk Edition has undergone a massive makeover.

On the exterior, the Mini Countryman Boardwalk Edition takes on a unique color called Deep Laguna metallic, which was formerly and exclusively available with the Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition.

The Countryman Boardwalk Edition bears new LED fog lights and headlights, an auto-dimming function on the power-folding mirrors, Comfort Access Keyless Entry, and a long list of various standard and exceptional features. The Countryman Boardwalk Edition model now also drives on 18-inch Pin Spoke wheels with a solid black finish.

The Countryman Boardwalk Edition has received a more refined interior that not only separates it from the rest of the pack but also brings a whole new expression not previously offered by MINI.

The interior is filled with plenty of stunning features, including a Touchscreen Navigation Platform, as well as graphics on the door sills, dashboard, and roof. Further, the leather-padded interior gives it a premium feel.

Another interesting feature of this subcompact SUV is its size. With five comfy seats and a large cargo area for hauling items, the Countryman is the largest model so far.

Under the hood, the 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman is equipped with a standard twin-turbo 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder in-line engine. On the regular Countryman it produces 136 HP at 6,500 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque.

The Countryman Cooper S version, however, can churn out 189 HP at 5,000 rpm and 207 lb-ft of torque at 1,350 rpm with the same engine. The S version is certainly worth it if you're looking for some extra power.

Whether you are into miniature cars, large Crossover SUVs (or any other segment really), performance is critical, even more so when considering the number of competing brands in the industry.

The 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels (but all wheels in the Cooper S version). The transmission system is also quick and responsive.

Even though the Countryman is a subcompact SUV version of the Mini Cooper, it hasn’t lost the Mini cooper touch, and you probably won’t feel like you are driving a crossover, even though it is much larger than other Minis.

While this car only made its debut a short while ago, the 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman Boardwalk Edition is already competing with other high-class and modern alternatives, like the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback, which is more practical and affordable, though it lacks appealing features.

Another rival is the Chevrolet Bolt, an all-electric alternative, which drives exceptionally well and costs about $36,500. Users can enjoy a 256-mile drive after a full charge with this EV. However, it does fall behind in terms of practicality. Other notable rivals of the Countryman are the Subaru WRX and Kia Soul.

When you factor in the new design, newfangled hue color, and behind-the-wheel experience, and with all that in a subcompact SUV, the price undoubtedly makes the 2022 Mini Countryman good value for money.
